Public Affairs Officer

We are recruiting on behalf our client for a **Public Affairs Officer** in the **Bromley** area.
**About the Role**
- To support the Public Affairs Unit in providing a responsive, efficient, high quality and professional internal and external communications service for our client, with a focus on enhancing and protecting the organisation’s reputation.
- To provide efficient and professional support for the team to ensure the delivery of effective communications and engagement activities, using existing and emerging channels to achieve this, in accordance with the corporate values and approach.
**Responsibilities & Duties**
- To create press releases, news reports, marketing materials, statements for social media websites etc, to agreed standards.
- To create, edit and publish engaging video content, developing the client’s use of video and social media.
- To respond appropriately to media enquiries, preparing media releases and arranging interview opportunities.
- To assist the Communications Executive in promoting and engaging stakeholders in participating with our client's initiatives, using a wide range of techniques and methods as appropriate for the audiences.
- To ensure that relationships with Members, senior managers and peers are the most effective for achieving business requirements.
- To keep up to date with all client matters.
- To contribute to the client's newsletters.
- To provide a full range of communications advice, training and support to the client’s services.
- To attend internal and external meetings, forums, press briefings, etc., to act as a representative of the client, providing communications support and to take notes of actions as required.
- To provide professional advice to Members and officers on working with the media and effective targeting of the wide range of audiences for the client's work.
- Provide communications support to client partnership ventures.
- To ensure effective and consistent use of the client's corporate identity.
- To work collaboratively and flexibly with colleagues, including covering for other officers where required to provide seamless support for communication and engagement activities.
- To develop measurable communication activities that promote the client’s services.
- To check the client’s media monitoring service for coverage of media activity especially around content releases/interviews etc.
- To implement the client’s Equal Opportunities Policy with regard to other individuals and service delivery.
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the level of the post, as required to ensure the efficient and effective running of the Department / Section.
- Undertake full duties with some independence and a minimum level of direct supervision.
- Assist and train more junior colleagues by sharing best practice and knowledge.
- Ability to produce more complex written copy.
