Our residents are all set for an exciting more to their new home in Lyndhurst
As a Support Worker, you can be part of the team helping them to feel settled in their new environment. With particular responsibility for planning and preparing evening meals with 9 adults with learning disabilities, you will actively involve them in food preparation tasks and teaching cooking skills, whilst also educating around healthy food choices.
This is truly rewarding role, being part of a team making a difference to individual lives and wellbeing by delivering high standards of care and support, such as accessing community activities and hobbies, education, day service opportunities, work-based enterprises, or help with their care, medication, and personal needs.
**Job Description;**
- To prepare cook and store if necessary, evening meals for the people we support and staff in accordance with current health and hygiene legislation.
- To create nutritional meal plans in line with what the people we support have chosen, whilst educating them around healthy food choices and eating a balanced diet.
- To support individuals to meet their goals and outcomes in health, wellbeing, and independence.
- To support people with their individual personal, social and healthcare needs as required maintaining accurate records.
- To work as part of a team but also to lone work in the community as needed.
- To be a keyworker to allocated individuals.
- Interacting and communicating with the people you support in a way that promotes dignity and respect.
- Working flexible shifts over a 24/7 week, 365 days a year. The role includes working evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays and sleep in shifts on a rota pattern and allows some flexibility.
**About you**:
- Catering experience is preferred.
- A calm, proactive manner.
- Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities (desirable).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated
Due to the requirements of the role, a full driving licence is essential.
