The Acute Medical Therapies Team at Warrington and Halton Hospitals is delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for someone with good communication skills and a desire to work with patients in an acute care setting to join our service.

We have a diverse team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants to support in the delivery of therapy to inpatients across the acute medical bed base. This includes working in areas such as Older Persons Care, Cardiology, Medicine, and Dementia Care. The post will involve providing therapy assessments and interventions for a diverse patient group. The role includes communicating with patients who may have communication difficulties and you will need to have both good verbal and written communication skills. We are a large and friendly team, able to offer ongoing support, regular team meetings, and supervision as part of your career development.

Based within the Acute Medical Therapies Team you will work with the support of qualified therapists to deliver basic assessments and treatments, this will require independent work in a variety of clinical areas. The post will require you to communicate and interact with multiple disciplines such as nursing staff, health care assistants, social workers, and doctors.

As a part of the inpatient journey regular contact is made with patients next of kin, friends and family, the successful post holder will need to be able to communicate with these people in a caring, confident, and professional manner in face-to-face conversations and over the telephone.

The working hours for this post will be 30 hours per week - over 4 or 5 working days which will include a 7-day working contract with a commitment to support the team on their weekend Saturday service (on a rota basis). Based across the Trust sites for therapy services including Warrington Hospital, Lovely Lane, Warrington WA5 1QG and Halton Hospital, Hospital Way, Runcorn WA7 2DA. The team deliver care to a wide variety of disciplines across the Warrington and Halton Hospitals bed base. These disciplines include Frailty / General Medicine / Cardiology / Dementia Care / Sub Acute Care.
