Assistant Accountant

I am delighted to be partnering with a dynamic business based on the outskirts of Eye seeking to recruit an Assistant Accountant in a key role supporting the Finance Manager to ensure that accurate financial records are maintained, financial transactionsare promptly and accurately processed and that the company’s assets are safeguarded.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Assist with the month-end close, including preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. Use strong analytical skills to investigate variances to budget and prior period to tell the story behind the numbers.
- Prepare and review the timesheet for payroll.
- Work closely with external auditors to support our annual financial statement audits.
- Provide coaching and support to the junior member of the accounting team.
- Cashflow forecasting.
- Assist with the preparation of the monthly VAT return.
- Preparation of weekly payment runs (GBP, USD, EUR).
- Management and delivery of Purchase Ledger, payment run and invoice approval.
- Management and delivery of Sales Ledger, credit control and invoice generation.
- Credit Limit Assessment.
- Key customer management.
- Weekly stock reporting and obsolete stock reporting.
- Maintenance of the Fixed Asset register.
- Oversee Daily bank reconciliations.
- Lease contract management.
- Other responsibilities include ad hoc analysis and special projects.
