**Job summary**:
The role sits at the centre of the Aircrew Systems In-Service Management Team who's aim it is to ensure sufficient and suitable Commodity Aircrew Systems are available at the point of need to meet Lead Command Responsibilities and Air Command Plan requirements. The post will include project management of minor changes and update programmes for in-service aircrew systems, ranging from helmets, night vision devices, flotation aids, survival aids, aircrew clothing, locator beacons and restraining devices. They will liaise closely with flying units across defence in order to prioritise existing equipment, identify and escalate availability and safety risks, manage obsolescence, and manage the introduction of new equipment.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:

- Work alongside other organisational members who provide Aircrew Systems support to current and emerging operations and high-profile pre-deployment training exercises.
- Support the Logs Defence Lines of Development owner (Air-Support-Hd Eng & Logs) in the progression of key Aircrew Systems work strands.
- Financial planning and management (in conjunction with the Air Cap Aircrew Systems Programme) for Equipment Support Programme (ESP).
- Through-life management to include dependencies, risks to outputs, disposals, and capability integration coherence.
- Management of availability to user need, including scaling and allocation in-line with in-service Command Acquisition Support Plan Annex.
- Provide oversight of maintenance requirements, supply chain, and equipment modifications of in-service capabilities.
- Consider Air safety hazard management by assessing the non-effectiveness of in-service capabilities in controlling and mitigating the intended aviation risks and thus identify any in-service capability deficiencies.
- Identify Front Line capability gaps and refer these to the Aircrew Systems Capability Upgrade Programme (ASCUP) where appropriate.
- Review specific Aircrew Systems issues raised by subordinate and related groups, where issues cannot be resolved in those forums; in particular, attend all Aircrew Systems Capability Working Groups (CWGs) and Capability Integration Working Groups (CIWGs).
- Engage relevant defence personnel to support key Aircrew Systems activity to ensure Aircrew Systems capability for deployed and mainland operating bases.
- Review and undertake trend analysis of RAF Aircrew Systems incidents raised via the RAF reporting systems as necessary. Review validity of investigations and provide assistance to SO3 A4 Arm & SE Availability regarding completion of reporting and follow up actions.
- Act as Chairman of the Aircrew Clothing Capability Working Group (AC CWG).
- Act as Secretary for both the A4 Aircrew Systems In-Service Management Group (IMSG) and the Aircrew Systems Safety Steering Group (ASSSG).
- Promote an ‘Open Door’ policy to the Aircrew Systems community encouraging and fostering the reporting of incidents, accidents, near misses, good ideas, strengths, and weaknesses with an overall aim of identifying and adopting best practice.
