An opportunity has arisen for 1 WTE Clinical Psychologists 8a to support our Critical Care patients and teams at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation trust in the current stressful circumstances of the pandemic. Immediate/early start required, and initially for a fixed term/secondment period of around 12 months whilst we progress our business case for substantive recruitment.

Critical Care here at East Kent Hospitals comprises of three units on three acute sites with 33 intensive care beds. Treating over 2000 patients a year, who require various levels of clinical support. We provide a caring, supportive and rewarding environment in which to work. The critical care service in East Kent has a well-established Rehabilitation and Follow-Up service. Over the next year the service will expand further to include a brand new intensive care unit with 24 beds at the William Harvey Hospital site. Bringing the total number of beds to 41 beds.

The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary critical care team with the aim of continuing the development of the most up-to-date evidence based critical care rehabilitation and follow up service which meets the psychological and emotional needs of the patients it cares for, as well as those of the staff who work in this emotionally and psychologically challenging environment.
