**Job Title**: Estates Health and Safety Advisor

**Location**:Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, RG1 5AN (with requirement to travel to Bracknell, Henley and Windsor, Wokingham when required)

**Band/Pay rate**:Band 7 - £25.60 per hour plus enhanced pay for weekends and bank holidays

**Contract**:NHSP Bank (3-month placement)

**Rota**:Monday - Friday. 37.5 hours per week - normally cover Monday to Friday between 7:30 and 17.30, out of hours/ on call and weekend work may be needed.

**The Role**:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Estates Health and Safety Adviser to join our team at the RBFT Estates Department. As an Estates Health and Safety Adviser, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and compliant delivery of all operational activities within the Estates Department.

**Responsibilities**:

- Serve as the primary point of contact for all Estates health and safety concerns, providing expert advice and guidance on health and safety issues.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and guidelines, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compliance documents through the Contractor H&S Management System and Computer Aided Facility Management system.
- Analyse contractor health and safety key performance indicator data, identify issues, and advise on improvement strategies.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement action plans to continuously improve the quality of Estates service.
- Produce department risk registers and provide cost-effective recommendations for revenue savings.
- Conduct annual quality audits of H&S management systems to ensure compliance with service contracts.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement processes and procedures that support safe daily operations.
- Review and update H&S-related policies and procedures in line with legislative changes and industry best practices.
- Coordinate activities across multiple teams, departments, and external consultants/contractors to assess risks and manage them effectively.
- Ensure proper training and capacity building for the Estates Fabric Team to carry out their responsibilities safely.
- Provide support and deputize for the QHSE Manager, as needed, to ensure the efficient operation of Estates maintenance services.

**Requirements**:

- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a healthcare or facilities management setting.
- **NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent level of experience working at a specialist advisor level**
- **Experience in similar roles - permit manager or project manager. Commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD)**
- Valid driver's license and standard driving skills.
- Level 6 NVQ or BSc Degree in H&S related qualification or equivalent experience / Health & Safety Qualification, and/or membership i.e., minimum Tech IOSH or member of the Risk & Quality Institute
- Knowledge of NHS HTM technical documents, British standards, regulations, legislation, and codes of practice.
- Incident investigating and report writing
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, legislation, and industry standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address health and safety issues.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels and deliver training sessions.
- Ability to prioritize and manage competing demands while adhering to policies and procedures.
- Proficient in using computer software and systems for record-keeping and data analysis
- Physical fitness to carry out occasional moderate physical tasks and cover significant distances.
- Willingness to engage in continuous professional development and personal growth.
