Are you passionate about harnessing the power of spatial data and GIS systems to drive innovation and make a direct and meaningful impact on the community you serve? If so, Derby City Council is seeking a Principal Information Software Support Officer focussing on GIS to join our dynamic team.

We know there is huge potential in how data and insights can support and enable improved public services and this role, working alongside teams within the Council, will play a significant part in us achieving our ambitions for data and insight use.
This is an exciting role, created to shape a new GIS Offer for the Council and build relationships with services Acting as the Council’s lead for spatial data and GIS systems, you will define and implement our GIS strategy as well as being the leading authority on GIS within Derby City Council.

You will develop the Council’s geospatial systems, data management and analysis capability, and embed the use of GIS across the Council, enabling us to maximise the value from our spatial data assets and work in the most efficient and effective way possible.

**About you**

You will have proven experience of leading and developing technical teams and be confident in building trusted relationships with colleagues at all levels. You will be committed to continuous improvement and have a desire to succeed - individually and as part of a team.

You will have the knowledge, skills, experience and expertise to lead and manage a broad range of GIS and spatial data management and development projects and be confident in your ability to develop, implement and embed best practice standards, tools and approaches, ensuring quality, resilience and value for money is at the heart of everything we do.
