London, United Kingdom Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust Full time

We are looking for a Registered Nurse, Paramedic or Operating Department Practitioner to join our service as a Resuscitation Officer.

You will join our established team of Resuscitation Officers across Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust delivering basic and advanced life support training, attending emergency calls as part of the adult, paediatric, neonatal and trauma teams, carrying out risk assessments related to resuscitation and assisting areas in setting up and maintaining emergency equipment as well as delivering local training as required.

You will have relevant experience in managing clinical emergencies and delivering advanced life support training to multidisciplinary teams. Management and leadership skills combined with the ability to work autonomously and within a team are essential for this role. A commitment to the advancement of resuscitation knowledge and skills is required. Knowledge and experience of change management is desirable.

**Closing**: 1st August 2023

**Interview**: 23rd August 2023

You will be focused on delivering adult and paediatric basic and advanced life support training.

You will attend adult, paediatric, neonatal and trauma emergency calls acting as an expert clinical resource and providing support for the resuscitation and local teams.

You will perform audit and post-event follow-up related to cardiac arrests and other emergency events where the crash team is activated.

You will carry out risk assessments related to resuscitation and assist areas in setting up and maintaining emergency equipment as well as delivering local training as required.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust comprises five of the UK’s best known hospitals - Guy’s, St Thomas’, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Royal Brompton and Harefield - as well as community services in Lambeth and Southwark, all with a long history of high quality care, clinical excellence, research and innovation.

We are among the UK’s busiest, most successful foundation trusts. We provide specialist care for patients including heart and lung, cancer and renal services as well as a full range of local hospital and community services for people in Lambeth and Southwark.

We have a long tradition of clinical and scientific achievement and - as part of King’s Health Partners - we are one of England’s eight academic health sciences centres, bringing together world-class clinical services, teaching and research. We have one of the National Institute for Health Research’s biomedical research centres, established with King’s College London in 2007, as well as dedicated clinical research facilities.

You will teach resuscitation skills to staff of all grades in a variety of settings, offer clinical support to staff during the management of emergencies, carry out risk assessments of new and existing departments, participate in audit of crash calls, equipment and DNACPR recommendations and assist in incident investigation of problems arising from resuscitations or with the crash team.

You are expected to develop and maintain good relations with clinical and support staff across the Trust at all levels and with relevant external organisations and instructors.

You will work effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary team and individually, if required, without direct supervision.

You will, in conjunction with the Lead Resuscitation Officer, facilitate the process of change and quality management in the department and at trust level.

You will assist in ensuring that there is a cost-effective use of resources and that the department functions with regard to effective budget control.

You will, working with the Lead Resuscitation Officer, deliver, devise and implement training programmes and sessions for all grades of staff across the trust.
