NewarkonTrent, United Kingdom The Wildlife Trusts Full time

**Full time: 35 hours per week**

**1 Year internship**

**Benefits: Private medical insurance, generous pension and annual leave entitlement**

**First interview: Provisionally 11 September 2023**

**Second Interview: Provisionally 14 September 2023**

Do you have an interest in nature and a passion for equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI)? We understand it can be difficult to start a career in the EDI field and conservation sector and that’s why we’re keen to offer an internship to a passionate individual to join and support our EDI team at a critical stage in our journey to becoming more inclusive. The Internship will offer an opportunity for you to gain vital practical experience in different aspects of EDI whist also being able to learn a little more about the work of our wider teams, such as Policy and Campaigning, Communications, Health and Education, and Human Resources.

**Who we are**

The Wildlife Trusts are a federated movement of 46 charities, supported by a central charity, the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts. Together we have more than 911,000 members, 35,000 volunteers and 2,800 staff across the UK. We are at an exciting moment in our 110-year history, with the development of an ambitious new strategy, setting out a vision of nature in recovery, with abundant, diverse wildlife and natural processes creating wilder landscapes where people and nature thrive.

Wildlife Trusts care for - and have restored - some of the most special places for wildlife in the UK. Collectively we manage more than 2,300 nature reserves, operate 123 visitor and education centres and own 29 working farms. We undertake research, we stand up for wildlife and wild places under threat, and we help people access nature.

The next few years will be critical in determining what kind of world we all live in. We need to urgently reverse the loss of wildlife and put nature into recovery at scale if we are to prevent climate and ecological disaster. We recognise that this will require big, bold changes in the way The Wildlife Trusts work, not least in how we inspire and mobilise people and support them to take action for nature.

We’re Wild About Inclusion To us, this means inspiring, empowering and engaging people from all backgrounds, cultures, identities and abilities, to change the natural world for the better. It means creating workspaces where difference is celebrated, everyone can be themselves and flourish, just like nature.

**About you**

No previous experience is necessary. However, we ask that you are passionate and eager to learn and support our work. A desire to take people on the EDI journey with a critical friend approach, rather than one that is combative or exclusive. You will have good administrative skills and excellent customer service. You will support the Strategic Lead for EDI and the EDI Trainer and Advisor in their work, This will range from data collection to opportunities to work on awareness raising campaigns and initiatives, as well as developing toolkits and maintaining our EDI section of our intranet. In return we will offer you the opportunity to complete Inclusive Employers Level 4 qualification.
