Chelmsford, United Kingdom The Housing Network Full time

**Schedule**:Tuesday to Friday - 19.00 to 23.00 (16 hours per week)

At The Housing Network we believe that when vulnerable people have a good home and a helping hand, they become more independent and less reliant on local authorities and that is exactly what we aim to achieve.

We partner with local authorities and other organisations and provide good quality, safe places for people to live. We understand that each situation and resident is different, so we work hard to provide the right homes quickly that ensure each individual is looked after well. And whether you need temporary, supported shared, or more specialist accommodation, all of our properties meet the same quality standards, are well looked after and have a 24/7 maintenance service that fixes problems day or night.

**Job Overview**:
Working to support our contract with the Ministry of Justice, this role involves assisting the day team to manage a number of self-contained and small shared accommodation properties **within the counties of Essex & Suffolk** **(e.g. Chelmsford, Colchester, Ipswich)** in respect of advising the residents how to manage a tenancy with specific focus on Anti-Social Behaviour.

In addition to providing proactive property management, the role involves engaging with residents (People on Probation) who may have complex needs/multiple disadvantages, on release from prison, with the goal of ensuring a smooth transition into the allocated accommodation and ongoing coping skills and appropriate behaviours to manage the placement.

The role includes an element of supervision to ensure house rules and license agreements are being adhered to, along with offering housing related support and signposting where needed.

While you will be part of a small regional team and a larger business, this role will be working alongside one other Enhanced Support Team Officer, travelling in a vehicle between identified locations.

**Responsibilities & Duties**:
Managing a number of properties specifically allocated to the MOJ. You will engage with individuals with complex needs and will be able to work without supervision and have experience of working in a small team.

**Duties**:

- Ensuring properties are safe, secure and clean.
- Performing all necessary functions to manage the resident displaying ASB which may include removing unauthorised visitors.
- Proactively identify and resolve all property and maintenance related issues efficiently, where applicable in conjunction with the maintenance and/or cleaning teams, including the out of hours team.
- Undertaking regular visits to all identified properties and ensuring residents are adhering to the “house rules” and have not abandoned their accommodation.
- Manage the reports of Anti-Social Behaviour and actively engage in conflict resolution wherever possible.
- Visit properties where the occupants are assessed as ‘no lone worker’ to assist with KPI’s
- Build positive relationships with residents and appropriately deal with any emergency situations which may arise during the course of work under guidance from local management teams and other professionals.
- Work with identified agencies such as Police including making online reports of crime where identified and any safeguarding issues.
- To keep accurate and timely records in accordance with departmental policy.
- To attend mandatory training and participate in staff development courses as appropriate.
- **Skills**:_

The post holder must have the following skills:

- Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills and be flexible towards residents’ needs.
- Extremely well organised.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- The ability to prioritize.
- Able to work in a small team.
- Have an interest and willingness to train.
- Network with local and national agencies.
- Full and current driver’s licence.
- **Knowledge**:_
- Experience of managing presenting behaviours around ASB in a tenancy
- Experience in the social housing sector, ideally having worked with people at risk of homelessness.
- Experience of supporting individuals with complex trauma/multiple disadvantage
- Direct knowledge of People on Probation and the challenges they face would be a distinct advantage.
- **Behaviour**:_
- Empathetic and supportive of residents while recognising the need to uphold and adhere to rules.
- Resilient and able to deal with people who are disadvantaged and sometimes present as challenging.
- Methodical in approach to ensure everything is done accurately and comprehensively.
- Keen to support colleagues and ensure the business is working cohesively and to the same objectives.
- Keen on a strong compliance culture.
- Able to work without direction.
- Adaptability and being prepared to help out if circumstances require.
- Keen to lead by example.
- We would expect you at all times to: act with integrity, due skill, care and diligence, professionalism, be open and co-operative with colleagues as well as act
