Our client are specialists in their market sector, they are looking to recruit a Fabricator/Plater on a permanent basis.

**Job Specification**:
**The Job You’ll do**
- The Fabricator/Plater is responsible for fabricating and assembling metal structures and components according to specifications.
- They will work with various tools and equipment to cut, shape, and join metal pieces, ensuring the quality and accuracy of the final product. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret engineering drawing.
- Fabricate and assemble metal structures, components, and frameworks according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Operate various hand and power tools, such as saws, drills, grinders, and welders, to cut, shape, and join metal pieces.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work orders to determine project requirements and dimensions.
- Perform layout and marking of metal materials using measuring tools, such as tape measures, squares.
- Select appropriate materials and techniques for each fabrication project, considering factors like metal type, thickness, and intended use.
- Set up and operate fabricating machines, including shears, and rolling machines, to cut and shape metal.
- Conduct inspections of finished products to ensure they meet quality standards, making any necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, cutting, bevelling, or shaping them according to job requirements.
- Ensure proper fit-up and alignment of metal components prior to welding, using clamps, jigs, or fixtures as necessary.
- Identify and address any material defects, such as cracks, warping, or contamination, before initiating the welding process.
- Perform dimensional measurements to verify that welded components meet required tolerances and fitment criteria.
- Identify and rectify any welding defects, such as porosity, undercut, or lack of fusion, to maintain high-quality standards.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including welding helmets, gloves, safety glasses, or respirators.
- Conduct routine inspections of fabrication or welding equipment to identify any defects or malfunctions and report them for repair or replacement.
- Assist in the setup and calibration of welding machines and equipment as needed.
- Support and mentor joiner members of the team, as needed, to develop their welding / fabrication skills and knowledge.

**About You**
- An understating, interest and enthusiasm for manufacturing and engineering in practical terms.
- Knowledge of welding drawing standards specific and acceptance criteria.
- Familiarity with various welding materials, including steel, aluminium, and stainless steel.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, work instructions and weld symbols.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality fabrications.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Willing to work overtime to support business needs when required.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and willingness to adhere to them.
- Desired experience and qualifications.
- Previous experience as a fabrication in the automotive and/or rail industry.
