An exciting opportunity has arisen in Weston General Hospital for a part time accident and emergency department receptionist. Receptionists are based in a A&E area and you will often be the first point of contact for patients.

Receptionists working within the Emergency Department are the first point of contact for patients and visitors attending the department and are expected to demonstrate a high level of professionalism, care, courtesy and respect when greeting patients.

The role will be busy and you will need to be organised to deal with many tasks throughout your day. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is self-motivated and who demonstrates the ability to work independently.

The post holder is responsible, as part of a team, for providing support to the A&E reception areas throughout the hospital This will include checking patients in and out of clinic appointments, ensuring the forms are completed during each clinic, answering telephones, a

The post holder may be required to work extra hours on occasions to cover busy periods and may also be required to help other services within the Trust.

**Key elements of the role are**:

- Booking in patients on arrival to the department
- Ensuring COVID screening questions are asked
- Creating case notes for patients requiring admission or further appointments
- Finding and filing notes from the medical records department
- Accurately discharging patients from the Careflow system
- Logging all IT issues and notifying Senior Administration colleagues log number(s)
- To gain comprehensive understanding of Careflow EPR computer system
- To deal with enquiries from patients and staff, both internal and external
- To provide administrative support to all clinical staff on duty
- Answer telephone calls in a polite and courteous manner, identifying yourself, the department and hospital
- Deal with queries face to face, on the telephone or via fax
- To keep abreast of all new developments within the job-role - participating in training and development as identified at appraisal; to improve existing skills and develop new skills, in accordance with the needs of the Service
