**ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES**

**What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?**

To own and lead multiple programs covering development of connected features for a range of BAT connected devices. Drive the connectivity features road map and managing the projects and delivery leads to ensure all necessary workstreams are developed cohesively to support world-leading innovation efforts across various categories at BAT.

This is a senior technical product owner position and requires strong technical understanding of Embedded Systems software development, IoT, User flow design, and Agile software development techniques.

**What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organisation?**

This role is responsible for the ideation, definition, prioritisation and delivery of new product features within the connectivity and IoT domain. Develop the architectural “big picture” of how individual features work together to create an experience. Leading projects and a team of feature leads to deliver viable options that can be utilised in new and upgraded products.

**WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR**
- Own the connected feature roadmap and delivery of new connected experiences
- Drive the ideation, definition, and prioritisation meetings to develop the future connectivity roadmap.
- Work with internal and external teams on capability development and provide a bigger picture of how these features integrate to deliver the desired experience.
- Assist communications with BAT’s internal teams to create functional software solutions, demonstrating how they satisfy the defined project requirements
- Provide project/workstream management updates when necessary, tracking progress towards breakthroughs and noting expenditure against budgets
- Problem-solve any identified issues whenever possible, escalating when necessary

**ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**

**Experience Required**
- Extensive experience in IoT product management and development, including ideation, validation, and productization of IoT technologies.
- Solid understanding of embedded systems development and integration of IoT technologies such as sensors, microcontrollers, and wireless communication protocols.
- Experience in Agile software development methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or Lean, as well as a solid understanding of software development life cycle.
- Ability to design complex and scalable embedded systems architectures and develop technical specifications for such systems.
- Ability to create a product roadmap that aligns with business goals, technology trends, and customer needs.
- Ability to translate technical requirements into product features and user stories and communicate with engineering teams effectively.
- Understanding of customer needs and pain points, and the ability to incorporate them into the product roadmap.
- Ability to think strategically, develop long-term product vision, and align it with business goals.
- Experience in project management, including planning, execution, monitoring, and control of IoT product development projects.

**Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required**
- Strong leadership skills and experience in leading cross-functional teams, motivating and inspiring the team towards common goals.
- Ability to conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform product strategy and feature prioritization.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate with different partners, present product roadmap, and manage expectations.
- Strong business insight and understanding of financial and commercial aspects of IoT products.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data, develop product metrics, and make data-driven decisions.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements such as FCC, CE, and UL for IoT products.
- Ability to create and maintain documentation, such as technical specifications, design documents, and test plans.

**Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required**
- Degree-educated in a relevant field of study (i.e., electronics, software engineering, computer science, etc)
