Oversee and drive forward our inspection readiness programme. Support Lead Directors with the planning, development and delivery of inspection readiness, subsequent outcomes and agreed improvement initiatives. Project manage effective planning, reporting and communication of inspection and improvement initiatives. Manage staff seconded or assigned to support inspections and associated improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities:

- Act as the primary point of contact and leader for inspection and improvement activities, building strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
- Identify any new national guidance that is applicable to work being progressed, to share any new guidance with appropriate colleagues and teams and work collaboratively to embed any new guidance in practice.
- Compile information, intelligence and analysis for annual and strategic plans, audits and inspections and performance reports for the Directorate Management Teams and other teams when required.
- Support the monitoring, development and evaluation of risk-related information, programmes, and projects. Work collaboratively with business areas to oversee the management of risks to inspection and resolve complex issues. Ensure risks and issues are identified and communicated in a timely fashion including proactively monitoring overall progress and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
- Lead (co-ordinate?) the development and updates for associated self-evaluation or self-assessments to ensure alignment with the latest inspection frameworks.
- Work with managers and teams to support the teams / individuals in understanding, identifying and collecting evidence of practice, performance, outputs and outcomes in their area.
- Develop the organisational practice and competence of Children and Young People’s Services in evidence and data gathering, self-assessment reporting and evaluation.
- Provide guidance and support to staff participating in inspection activity
- Guide the response during inspections and facilitate the implementation of action plans post-inspection.
- Support the interpretation and dissemination of inspection and other report findings internal and external stakeholders.

- Relevant degree / qualification

Knowledge:
**Experience**:
Extensive experience and/or knowledge of children’s services and have a solid understanding of what ‘good’ looks like.
- A track record of meeting high-quality standards and delivering within deadlines. A track record of improving practice and service delivery in a relevant field.

Skills & Abilities:

- Good problem solving, analytical and documentation skills with the capacity to devise and implement innovative solutions
- Hands-on with an ability to generate and deliver tangible results. Capable of driving and managing multi-faceted and interagency programmes of work
- Can gather information to inform judgement for interventions in complex situations and in response to challenge.
- Can promote positive working relationships in and across teams, using strategies for collaboration and arbitration
- Can contribute to and provide professional leadership of organisational change and development and address performance management issues that arise. Can model and promote a culture of clear communication, sometimes in highly charged, complex or challenging situations, supporting the development of effective communication skills in others.
