Legal Assistant - Court

As a Legal Assistant in the court team you will support the work of the litigation and social care teams. You will have your own caseload but will also support a wide range of court work.

You will:

- Draft possession claims and subsequent enforcement documentation in compliance with Housing legislation
- Book, process and diarise court hearing dates
- Respond to queries from client teams on rent arrears
- Liaise with the County Court, Magistrates’ Court and various counsel chambers
- Request PNC checks from Police
- Set up case files
- Prepare court bundles
- File and serve legal documents
- Conduct legal disclosure in respect of possession, anti social behaviour, nuisance and disrepair cases
- Terminate tenancies of deceased tenants
- Administer School Admission Appeals

Legal Assistant - Corporate

As a Legal Assistant in the corporate team you will support the property, planning and contracts & commercial teams. You will be exposed to a wide range of property, planning and commercial work and you will have your own caseload, including:

- Tree Preservation Orders
- Stamp Duty Land Tax returns
- Administration of signing and sealing documents
- Administer School Admission Appeals

The roles act as ‘super users’ on our legal case management system, creating templates, screens and workflows.

We work in a fast paced environment, often with tight deadlines, therefore you will need to demonstrate a willingness to work flexibly.

The post holder will ideally have a qualification equal to ECDL, or equivalent experience, to demonstrate good IT skills.

Experience in using Microsoft Word and bespoke systems is essential.

This role would suit someone with administrative experience on a variety of databases, or someone looking to begin their career in a legal environment.

As a new starter, your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team. Your working arrangements will vary according to your service and role, and the current Government guidance. For many roles, there will be more opportunities in the future for remote and hybrid working. However, this comes with the expectation that, as workplaces open up, there is likely to be an ongoing and occasional requirement to attend the workplace.
