The Role as Head of Commercial
Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, the Head of Commercial is responsible for the execution of the contracts. The successful individual will be responsible and accountable for the day-to-day management of Commercial Leads, Managers and Assistants undertheir control.

The Head of Commercial supports the Supply Chain Director and is responsible for managing and mitigating the commercial risks associated with a project of this scale.

The successful individual will ensure consistent controls, processes and governance structures are developed and embedded to safeguard both the delivery objectives of the HPC project together with the wider Supply Chain interest of the Company.

There is a critical dependency to ensure HPC’s contract partners act as one team on Site and that workforce arrangements are in place to encourage and measure contractor productivity and minimise stoppages and disputes. The position will ensure a consistentapproach is adopted and work with HPC’s contract partners to ensure the appropriate skill and expertise is leveraged from the construction and equipment supply industry.

Key Deliverables:
Develop, implement and continually review procedure and practice to ensure the effective Supply Chain management of contracts
Manage the contractual impact of technical and other contractual variations, ensuring the most advantageous outcome for the Company.
Manage the relationships with the team within our contractor partners to ensure a constructive relationship is maintained throughout the lifecycle of the project.
Demonstrate leadership by developing a culture to minimise claims.
Ensure Supply Chain risks are identified analysed and managed.
Ensure that Supply Chain lessons learned are captured and resolutions developed prior to SZC construction.
Lead and motivate a team to ensure their performance is optimised, and in line with HPC objectives.
Ensure all Principal Accountabilities for the contract commercial team are implemented in accordance with HPC commercial procedures
Adopt the role of the Intelligent Customer ensuring that stakeholder needs & expectations are met with regard to commercial probity, value & that the supply chain is treated fairly & equitably
Ensure people are aware of the needs of a strong nuclear safety culture
For the execution phase the Head of Commercial will have responsibility for leading & managing the execution phase of each contract including providing an overview of the individual contracts to ensure compatibility & alignment with other projects includingfundamental matters such as: Scope of Work/Services & Associated Programme; Prices & Rates Schedules; Key Personnel & Arrangements for Contract Administration, incentive arrangements.
Oversee contract commercial relationships. Work with collaborative behaviours in a spirit of mutual trust & cooperation.
Seek to achieve ‘win-win, equitable commercial outcomes for all parties to facilitate early commercial close out. They are accountable for ensuring that all commercial activities are conducted throughout execution of the contract in accordance with NNB CommercialProcedures.
Responsibilities under the approved Supply Chain Policy managing contracts & being a direct interface with the supply chain to ensure an embedded nuclear safety culture; the right level of oversight, control & surveillance of contractor activities are set upin HPC & the supply chain.
In the closeout phase They will have responsibility & accountability for managing the close out phase of each contract.
Collaborative behaviours, lead the supply chain through collaboration and lead the team in effective relationships
Select Appropriate Suppliers, lead the team in setting contracting strategies and appropriate supplier selection
Manage the Contract Life Cycle, lead the project commercial team in managing the contract life cycle.
Understand Performance and commercially control, review contract information for monthly reporting. With the Programme Manager propose and instigate corrective actions
Mitigate Risks: Deliver Opportunities, actively participate in the Risk Management Process and Identify risks and opportunities associated with Contracts
Cost Control, lead the team in Identification and closeout of potential changes to and report through the correct change control processes, including providing supporting information
Cost Transparency, review information submittals to ensure compliance with requirements

Knowledge & Skills:
Member of the RICS / CICES / IOB/CIPS or equivalent professional body
Effective commercial / contract management skills, with clear knowledge of best practice contract methodologies
Able to demonstrate a considerable track record of administering successful contracts
Highly developed commercial skills and demonstrable ability to make sound decisions on matters of significant financial value
Good understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management and chan
