**Introduction**:
Our client is an award winning and customer focussed mortgage and savings provider who, after a period of growth which is expected to continue, are looking to recruit a Credit Risk Analyst. As a mid-sized lender this is a great opportunity for someone whowants to learn a breadth of knowledge and who wants to truly influence a business and work within a relatively small team, a 'bigger fish in a smaller pond’.

Reporting to the Risk Executive and as a key member of the Risk Team, you will be responsible for helping to establish, maintain and embed risk management practices throughout the business. You will bring analytical expertise (particularly using Excel) toenable the Risk team to exercise second-line oversight of credit and prudential risks.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has an analytical mindset and looking to forge a career within Credit Risk. This may be your first move in to a formal 2nd line risk role or you could also be a more experienced risk practitioner, salary will bebased on relative experience.

**Responsibilities of the Credit Risk Analyst**:

- Review and challenge the credit risk MI provided by the first-line lending teams to ensure that credit risk is appropriately understood and managed
- Provide review and challenge in respect of new lending propositions and changes to Policy
- Performance of routine ongoing reviews and ad hoc 'deep dive’ reviews into key Credit Risk or Financial Models e.g. Stress Testing methodology, Treasury Worksheet.
- Horizon scanning alongside the Risk Executive to identify upcoming activities, Regulatory requirements or challenges that may impact the business
- Enhance the second-line oversight of credit risk by developing appropriate tools for the analysis of the lending portfolio
- Develop a deep understanding of the lending policies and underwriting practices
- Stress testing of business forecasts and plans, with a view to providing a critical 2nd Line review of the work undertaken
- Review and challenge of relevant risk dashboards and risk analysis

**Competencies, experience and qualifications** required for the Credit Risk Analyst:

- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Proven Quantitative & Analytical skills alongside ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders up to Board level. Strong Excel skills are a must e.g. Pivot Tables, Macros
- Previous experience within a risk related role within Financial Services or a 1st line finance role dealing with credit and / or prudential matters is preferred
- Ability to interpret and implement new legislation

This is a great opportunity to join the Risk function of a specialist mortgage lender in the East Midlands and can be someone looking to 'step up’ to their first formal Risk Management role or someone who has worked at this level but wanting to work in asmaller, customer focussed lender. There is flexible working in place so can WFH, however you must live within a reasonable commute that you are prepared to do up to 3 days a week to the office when required.
