**Role Purpose**
- As an Entertainment Reporter for the Belfast Telegraph and belfasttelegraph.co.uk you will source and break exclusive stories and write in-depth analysis.
- The role holder will also be able to write fast news and respond to breaking events. They will have a network of contacts that they will continue to develop.
- The journalist filling this role must be able to deliver breaking news and skilled at delivering smart, engaging stories.**Role Responsibilities **(Overview)
- Consistently break entertainment and showbiz stories
- Help to develop the entertainment news offering across all platforms and story types
- Represent the organisation externally
- Work collaboratively with the news editor, head of content and wider editorial teams
- Ensure a high level of fast, accurate, fair and engaging journalism
- Ensure that our output reflects the audiences that we serve - and helps to grow subscriptions online and support print circulation
- Planning and advising desks of relevant upcoming events and potential angles on stories
- Also handle general assignment and breaking news as directed by the Head of News
- Delivering content to tight deadlines
- Carry out your duties at all times in accordance with the Company’s Editorial Code of Practice and relevant professional and legal codes

**Experience & Qualifications**
- EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- At least two years’ experience as a journalist - preferably with experience of breaking entertainment or showbiz stories
- Good knowledge of entertainment or arts issues in Northern Ireland

**Technical & Non-technical**
- Excellent news judgment coupled with the ability to write engaging content and develop in-depth analysis
- Ability to maximise social media and other digital tools to source news information and promote journalism
- Ability to explain complex issues in an accessible manner
- The flexibility and adaptability to sustain performance, particularly under pressure to meet deadlines and changing priorities and circumstances
