Associate Director, Sustainabilty

**Salary**: £107,882

Contract: Fixed Term - 1 year

Wellcome is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.

We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate.

These challenges need the bold research our funding supports, but they won’t be solved by science alone.

We now have an opportunity for an Associate Director, Sustainability on a 1 year fixed term contract to lead the development and implementation of Wellcome’s overall ESG and net zero strategy, including:
- Ensuring that climate and our net zero targets are embedded in our decision making and risk management- Designing and delivering implementation programmes to achieve our targets- Establishing effective governance mechanisms for all required workstreams- Defining and then implementing ways of measuring progress and success.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Corporate Affairs Senior Leadership Team and with senior stakeholders to develop our strategy for reaching our target of net zero in

Scope 1 and 2 emissions

by 2030 for our UK operations We are looking for someone with:
- Knowledge and experience of creating and leading sustainability programmes for large complex organisations, and advising and recommending decisions at Board level. This could have been achieved in an in-house or external advisory role.- Experience of planning and implementing large scale projects or programmes, and a track record of successful delivery- Leadership and people management skills, leading the delivery of a programme of work through both line and matrix management.- Ability to effectively Influence and develop a clear vision- Demonstrable Internal and external stakeholder management- Strong understanding of ESG and sustainability issues and best practice and recent trends in the field, with an ability to communicate these to non-specialists.
