**Job overview**:
We have an exciting opportunity for a registered Mental Health nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker looking to progress their career as a clinical specialty practitioner, specialising in first episode psychosis. The successful applicant must have previous experience in working with people with psychosis and strong leadership skills. The post will have a clear focus on quality and safety with aspects of clinical leadership. The post holder will join an established and experienced team who work with people with first episode psychosis for up to 3 years offering a NICE concordant package of care. The team is well resourced with smaller caseloads and a recent National Clinical Audit of Psychosis (NCAP) rating of 'Top Performing' compared nationally to other Early Intervention teams.

**Main duties of the job**:
The post holder will be expected to be competent in the following duties:

- Provide specialist mental health advice which is highly complex and sensitive, to patients, carers and staff, ensuring this is delivered in an understandable form.
- Provide support to colleagues in managing complex cases
- Work on quality and safety, including governance, quality improvement and audits.
- Work closely and co-operatively with members of management teams and clinical teams to meet objectives, ensuring that open communication pathways are maintained at all times
- Have the ability to draw upon sound clinical experience, knowledge and skills to benefit and improve service user care
- Have knowledge of the clinical operational functions of local mental health services
- Have extensive knowledge of risk assessment and the use of least restrictive practice
- The post holder will work both autonomously and with a wide MDT
- Identify and supervision, training and development opportunities for colleagues in the team and the wider system as necessary.

**Essential criteria**:

- Mental health nurse, occupational therapist, social worker or equivalent. Degree Level Qualification or studied at equivalent level

**Desirable criteria**:

- Further education is specialty area

**Experience**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Extensive experience at which has required supervision and mentorship of others
- Extensive experience of practice within clinical area with proven track record in delivering high quality care

**Desirable criteria**:

- Experience of implementing evidence based practice and or service improvement initiative

**Knowledge**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Able to demonstrate sound clinical expertise and knowledge of mental health disorders and their treatments
