We are recruiting for an **Assistant Accounts Payable Manager**to join our **Countrywide Finance Team** based in**Chelmsford**.
The main purpose of this role is to lead, facilitate & co-ordinate the day-to-day activity of the full function Supplier Payments & Expenses Teams respectively. You will drive an agenda of continuous improvement across the end-to-end purchase-to-pay process.
**You will be responsible for**:

- Coordinating the teams' day-to-day operations and ensuring payment of invoices and expenses are made accurately and on time.
- Supervising the administration of supplier accounts, bank details, analysis structure and creditors ledger.
- Tracking & optimising workflow through the development of performance KPIs.
- Producing of month-end AP reporting pack and other business MI.
- Managing recruitment, staff development & training & career pathways and leading team meetings.
- Managing relationships with internal stakeholder both within Finance (including Debt Recovery) and with the Procurement Functions.
- Liaising with external stakeholders including suppliers, banks, and auditors.
- Developing, implementing and maintaining processes / system procedures to ensure fit for purpose, efficient and adhere to company policies.

**Key Outputs**:

- Effective end-to-end payment worflow from source (in business) to settlement.
- Implementation of upgraded systems functionality including new online authorisation of supplier invoices.
- Timely and accurate payments to suppliers, employees, accurate cash allocation of receipts, accurate coding of supplier invoices and processing of customer payments.
- Management information flows to the businesses to aid operations, in particular close co-operation with Debt Recovery team.
- Documented and tested internal controls.

**Your experience & skills will be**:

- **Essential**_
- Educated to a Degree standard.
- Ability to develop and motivate teams, to analyse processes, identify weaknesses and highlight appropriate changes.
- Good verbal communication.
- Experienced in landing effective change within the business.
- Good IT knowledge including intermediate knowledge of excel.
- Experience of managing a transactional processing team.
- **Desirable**_
- Accountancy qualification (e.g., AAT).
- Systems implementation.
- Experience ofAP (and AR) in a multi-site/multi company environment.
