- Database and Test Development Assistant
- Reporting to Database Manager Co-ordinator
- Permanent and full-time working 37.5 hours per week
- Harlow, UK based, with hybrid working arrangement (office/home-based)
**Purpose of the role**:
- To work within the test development which is responsible for developing and producing a range of English language tests and item development systems; and to ensure that all materials and data are delivered to schedule.
- A flexible, innovative and customer focused approach is essential.
- Understanding and knowledge of administrative processes and/or assessment principles is important to the role, as is the ability to cooperate with people and organise processes effectively.
- Support all activities related to the item bank management, including its regular replenishment with new items as needed to meet market requirements.
- Act as the first point of contact for all item bank and test construction related requirements across Test Development including new test development and training
- Responsible for the management of contracts and invoices approved by Test Development Manager or Senior Managers. Supporting Test Development Manager and Senior Managers in management of budget spend and financial records. Knowledge and understanding ofEnabling Functions procedures and tools.
- The ability to work proactively and use initiative to solve problems is essential. The applicant will be expected to manage various aspects of the workload within the team as the need arises, supporting and reporting to Database Manager Co-ordinator.
- Training and supervising the work of less experienced team members and contingent workers as the need arises, reporting progress and/or any issues to Test Development Manager, Database Manager Co-ordinator and Senior Managers. Proactively making recommendationsto Test Development Manager, Database Manager Co-ordinator and Senior Managers on most efficient ways of workload management.
**Key Accountabilities**:
Quality Management
- Support Test Development Manager/Senior Manager by ensuring the quality of assessment content, materials and assets (audio, video and graphic) for an item bank, approving them as valid and fit for purpose (accurately proofread, suggest and make improvementswhere necessary). Reporting any issues with the content to the Test Development Manager/Senior Manager.
- Support Database Managers in managing the item bank for assessment products, including reporting, resourcing, and specifying business requirements. Report and help manage any identified issues and risks to ensure that item development and test constructionsprocesses are carried out smoothly and within the prescribed framework and timetable.
- Store and retrieve test data from item banks using specific software (and take responsibility for the organisation and update of the bank).
- As required, create, manage, document and revise process and policies in relation to assessment content management and replenishment.
- Ensure copyright is given for all source materials by liaising with the Rights team.
- Ensure processes are followed accurately and maintain records of all item details and status so changes can be tracked; and ensure that less experienced team members or contingent workers adhere to the procedures too.
- Support Test development Manager/Senior Manager in preparation of training materials for item writer and reviewer training, e.g. selecting examples of items which did not meet the quality standards. Contribute to the production of item writer and reviewerperformance reports.
- Escalate issues and risks to Management team in relation to item management and security.
Customer service
- Ensure a high standard of customer service, in particular external item writers, reviewers and internal vendors with whom Test Development team collaborate to develop high stakes content.
- Contribute to customer support.
- Communicate effectively and sensitively with colleagues and customers around the world, from a variety of cultures.
- Set up meetings as required.
- Monitor external assessment contractors ensuring they have all the necessary tools and guidelines to deliver their work according to Test Development team’s standards.
