**Operations and Purchasing Assistant**

An Operations and Purchasing Assistant is needed to join a well-established quarry operator and natural stone manufacturing company. Our client urgently needs an Operations and Purchasing Assistant to join their team near Peterborough. Established in 1997,this is a prestige family-run business with circa 50 employees, operating three locations in the Cambridgeshire/Lincolnshire area. You’ll take responsibility for carrying out administrative tasks relating to logistics and purchasing.

This is a role for a strong administrator. If you have an interest in helping a business to run smoothly and have demonstrable administrative experience, this could be the role for you.

The job is varied, involving areas such as operations, fleet management, Health & Safety and purchasing.

**Responsibilities**:

- Providing haulage quotations
- Organising external hauliers to suit the company’s requirements
- Downloading vehicle/driver digi cards every 3 weeks
- Administration of O licence compliance
- Organising lorry servicing and inspection dates
- Dealing with roadside breakdowns, accidents and windscreens, liaising with insurance companies
- Overseeing insurance, tax, MOT, repairs and servicing for all company vehicles
- Providing weekly delivery sheets for production staff and Finance Manager to approve for dispatch
- Organising the transport diary on a daily basis
- Sourcing and ordering parts, equipment and sundries for the office and yard
- Negotiating fuel bunker rates and managing company fuel card accounts
- Authorising purchase invoices
- Maintaining Health & Safety documents and procedures with control of document review dates

If you have any previous experience of operations or logistics, that would be ideal but not essential as you’ll be taught everything you need to know. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must as well as good Excel skills, the ability towork to deadlines and be organised and methodical in your approach. Any knowledge or experience of Health & Safety is desirable but not essential.

This is a full-time Monday to Friday role based in the office.
