**Job summary**:
We are looking for a Cyber Security Advisor, helping to improve the Department for Transport’s cyber security maturity level. Your role will be to support delivery of continuous security improvements and government requirements such as GovAssure and Functional Standards.

**Job description**:
In the Cyber Security Advisor role your duties will include:

- Supporting the requirements to deliver GovAssure.
- Development and review of cyber security policy.
- Support the development of cyber security standards, processes and guidance.
- Delivering cyber security training and awareness across the Department.

**Person specification**:
As a Cyber Security Advisor, you will help to improve the Department for Transport’s cyber security maturity level. Your role will be to support delivery of continuous security improvements and government requirements such as GovAssure and Functional Standards.

To be successful in this role you will have good communication skills and will be capable of presenting technical and complex guidance to a range of non-expert stakeholders with confidence.

You will be skilled at analysis, judgement and reasoning and you will also be able to manage your own time and prioritise your own deadlines.

**Additional Information**

A minimum of 40% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.

**Technical skills**:

- Provide expert advice on Technical Security to the department and its Arm’s Length Bodies (ALBs).
- Align with relevant regulation, policy and standards to provide proportional, practical advice that is tailored to the local environment, and advise on any residual risk.
- Monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of the Cyber Security processes and awareness across the organisation and make recommendations for continual improvement.
- Provide educational material, training and support to increase awareness of cyber security.
