An exciting opportunity has arisen for Bank Chaplains to join our teams.

We are seeking appoint suitably qualified experienced individuals with a strong personal spirituality, a commitment to providing support to all regardless of their faith or belief system and a desire to work collaboratively as part of a team.
While still known as ‘Chaplaincy’ we work on an inclusive model committed to offering high quality pastoral, spiritual and, where appropriate, religious care to patients, visitors and staff of all faiths and of none.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide emotional support to people experiencing acute emotional distress is essential.
Experience in pastoral ministry is essential and experience of working with the dying and bereaved and/or those who have experienced foetal loss or still birth is desirable.
Previous experience of working in health care would be advantageous.
Provide pastoral and spiritual care
- Assess spiritual health and wellbeing needs, develop spiritual care plans, and keep written and electronic records.
- Evaluate referrals and provide a timely response.
- Provide or facilitate spiritual and pastoral care sensitive to the cultural, faith and belief realities of the diversity of service users.
- Work collaboratively alongside other professionals of all grades.
Contribute to the effective working of the Chaplaincy team by working flexibly with colleagues
- Ensure good communication and collaboration with other members of the team
- Share in the daytime duty rota
- Share in leading worship if authorized to do so.
- Follow agreed procedures and policies and maintain accurate and timely records of patient encounters
- Attend meetings of the Chaplaincy team as required.
Provide or facilitate religious care as appropriate
- Deliver ritual/ceremony consistent with one’s own faith or belief tradition.
- Organise rites, sacraments and ceremonies that cannot be undertaken by the post holder for reasons of timing or conscience to be administered by a suitable colleague or community faith/belief leader.
- Make referrals to appropriate faith/belief leaders and community ministers of religion at the patient’s request and with their consent

**Base**: To be discussed, once appointed to the Bank, there are opportunities both on our acute site at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton and in Mental Health and Community Hospitals across Somerset.
Job Purpose
In this role, you will be working as part of a team, providing spiritual care across on the acute hospital site or in metal health units and community hospitals, and carrying out a number of administrative tasks that support that work.
Responsible to
Lead Chaplain and Head of Spiritual Care for the acute site and/or Chaplaincy Team-Leader for Community and Mental Health.

Communication and Key Working Relationships
- Chaplaincy Team Leader on the Acute Community and Mental Health Chaplaincy staff and volunteers.
- Lead Chaplain and Team Chaplains and volunteers in the acute hospital
- Ward staff.
- Bereavement and Medical Examiner Office and Mortuary staff.
