Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) Programme - Supervisors

Background

The national CWP programme was established in 2017 as a response to the target of offering an evidence-based intervention by training new workforce in evidence-based treatments, outlined in Implementing the Five Year Forward View for Mental Health. Since April 2017, a number of services/Trusts have been involved in employing and training across the London and the South-East collaborative. London NELFT (Barking & Dagenham, Havering. Redbridge and Waltham Forest) has been part of this collaborative. We already have an established CWP workforce in our CAMHS and MHST. We are hoping to recruit a further 8 CWP trainee for the January 2024 cohort.

CWP Training & Supervision

The CWP trainees will undertake a postgraduate diploma training for 1 year, hosted by Kings College London (KCL). The CWPs will be trained over the course of a year to offer brief, focused evidence
- based interventions in the form of low intensity support and guided self-help to young people who demonstrate mild/moderate:

- Anxiety (primary and secondary school age)
- Low mood (adolescents)
- Common behavioural difficulties (working with parents for under 8s)

During the first term, CWPs will spend more time at the University training, and more days will be allocated to work within their teams as the year progresses to put their skills into practice under close supervision. To properly support and supervise the expanding CWP group, we are seeking to recruit a full-time Band 7 CWP Supervisor to provide intense supervision and support for the CWPs within our service. The CWP Supervisor will work closely with our service heads and leads across our 4 areas (Barking & Dagenham, Havering. Redbridge and Waltham Forest) to support the CWPs to meet their training requirements, further development and service needs.

Probationary Period

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focussing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436).

Who are we seeking?

We are looking to recruit experienced, enthusiastic senior clinician/supervisor who is passionate about the success of the CWP programme, delivering high quality and evidence based low-intensity interventions and ensuring that outcomes are captured and fed back into our clinical work. New CWP supervisors coming into these roles will be able to access a Post Graduate Certificate in CYP-IAPT Supervision (CWP) course based at KCL. This training starts in January 2024 and will be fully funded.
