The Tree of Life Programme is looking for a talented and enthusiastic **Junior Business Analyst **to support the Tree of Life's Enabling Platforms team on a Permanent Contract.

**About the Role**:
You will support the Principal Functional Analyst & Product Owner in understanding and refining the complex needs of stakeholders. You will collaborate with team members to ensure that the backlog accurately reflects their understanding of the business needs/goals, analysing trade-offs between usability and performance needs to propose optimum solutions.

You will support the Agile software development 'Enabling Platforms' team within the Tree of Life Programme and support the scrum team to:

- Create the product backlog comprising requirements which are often expressed as Epics and User Stories, using project management software (Jira).
- Create regular release communications to inform stakeholders of delivered and upcoming work.
- Lead the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with our stakeholders to ensure that their requirements have been delivered as expected, reporting and prioritising bugs as necessary.

You will be joining a friendly, Agile team within the most novel Programme at the Wellcome Sanger Institute that encourages personal and professional development.

**About You**:
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, diligent, and resourceful individual to support an ambitious and innovative sequencing project, globally unique and with a noteworthy impact on genomic and biodiversity research.

Working in an Agile way, you will support the Principal Functional Analyst in identifying opportunities to improve business performance through process improvement and organisational change, enabled by changing business systems. You will provide aid the Enabling Platforms team in supporting all aspects of Agile project delivery to ensure that requirements are appropriately defined, milestones are hit, risks and issues are managed, progress is reported and documentation is managed expertly.

You will be a Junior Business Analyst who has a passion for disseminating complex challenges and delivering effective solutions.

**About Us**:
The Tree of Life (ToL) Programme at the Wellcome Sanger Institute focuses on the generation and analysis of high-quality genome sequences from across eukaryotic biodiversity. The ToL programme includes several projects dedicated to particular sections of the Tree of Life, such as the Aquatic Symbiosis Genomics Project, the Darwin Tree of Life Project, the Vertebrate Genomes Project, European Reference Genomes Atlas and Earth BioGenome Project. All these projects rely on an ample network of collaborations and partnerships with other large global genome initiatives.

ToL's Programme Management and Operations (PM&O) team supports the cutting-edge research of all Faculty groups within the Programme and the wider network of collaborators and partners. By providing multidisciplinary support, we maximise the delivery and scale of our Faculty science. PM&O is comprised of several teams supporting the following activities; team and research administration, sample management, project management and wildlife compliance.

**Technical Skills**:

- Ability to work in a changing environment and demonstrate delivery of scientific value via Agile project management techniques.
- Desire to develop Business Analysis skills e.g. requirements capture, process mapping, GAP analysis, use cases and scenarios, solution design etc.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and schedule effectively.
- Ability to focus, concentrate and accurately complete tasks within given timeframes while dealing with unscheduled interruptions e.g. changing priorities.
- Demonstrate an ability to provide, receive and record both routine and highly complex communications, electronically, orally and in writing.
