**Job Purpose**
The postholder will be responsible for conducting independent research of international excellence, as well as contributing to the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses and enhancing the growth and development of the School. They will also be expected to actively engage with knowledge exchange activities relevant to the discipline, contribute to learning and teaching on agreed programmes, and undertake administration and service activities in line with the School/College’s strategic objectives.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Undertake a leading role in developing and delivering a vibrant research program in Behavioural Neuroscience.
2. Act as principal investigator or project leader on major research projects with a portfolio of research activity and publications of high quality and impact. Pursue and deliver independent research proposals and/or collaborative research projects, project managing research activities, supervising, and taking responsibility for the research team.
3. Continue developing an expert reputation in the field by effective dissemination and publishing of research findings in top-tier journals and conferences, and where appropriate undertaking knowledge exchange activities, including presenting research findings at national and international conferences.
individuals and groups within the University, including multi-disciplinary links, and developing external research collaborations both nationally and internationally, to ensure that research activities are at the forefront of the field.
6. Undertake a leading role in developing and delivering engaging and effective undergraduate and graduate courses in Behavioural Neuroscience and contribute to the development of new courses in the field.
-9. Undertake required training and development to support the high-quality delivery of teaching modules, as evidence, for example, by the completion of the PgCAP or other appropriate routes.
10. Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students and provide guidance and support in the development of their research projects, as well as demonstrate leadership in the supervision and training of postgraduate research students, as appropriate, to ensure their effective development.
11. Sustained commitment and distinctive contribution to productive, externally facing engagement designed to translate the research into impact.
12. Sustained commitment and distinctive contribution to School/Research Institute committees or initiatives relating to the improvement of research, the learning environment, student recruitment and/or internationalisation.
13. Sustained commitment and distinctive contribution to collective endeavours that have led to the enhancement of the student experience at Subject/School/Research Institute level which may include a role in student guidance/pastoral/welfare type activities.
14. Sustained commitment and distinctive contribution to a research or other project team and associated activities such as innovation, engagement with external partners and commercialisation.
15. Sustained commitment and distinctive contribution to university activities such as those relating to, widening participation, schools’ outreach, student recruitment, student retention or transition.
17. Engage in continuing professional development activities as appropriate.
18. Contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s Strategic Plan, Inspiring People Changing The World, as well as to the University’s carbon target and commitment to sustainability.
19. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of School.
