- We are delighted this year to be able to offer a 12-week Summer Internship from June to September 2024, specialising in Procurement.
- What you’ll do
- In joining our Procurement & Supply Chain internship, you’ll be working alongside specialists within our Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Platinum accredited Procurement Team. This team is responsible for buying all the goods and services we need to deliver a great service for our customers and support our capital infrastructure programmes. We’re funded by the taxpayer, so it’s really important that we procure these services in a way that is fair, transparent and good value for money, in accordance with public procurement rules.

In addition to buying millions of pounds of materials and services, this team also explores new ways to partner with the supply chain and wider industry bodies on common areas of interest such as Net Zero, sustainability and innovation.

This is a great opportunity, working within a close, integrated team, to develop your strategic thinking and project management skills to deliver real projects. As well as being a great opportunity to work and network with the wider Net Zero, Supply Chain Innovation and Partner Ecosystem teams, you’ll have clear accountabilities and the opportunity to shape the scope of the work you deliver. You can expect to develop your skills in fast-paced environment where you’ll explore a variety of innovative business development propositions.

This is a paid Summer Internship, with the salary being £23,177 (£5,348. pro-rata for the 12-week period).

What you’ll need

You’ll be in the penultimate year of university, or maybe about to do a Masters. Either way, you’ll be on course for at least a 2:2 degree. And it goes without saying that you will be available for the full placement time: 12 weeks.
- You will be studying towards a degree relating to Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Management, Legal, Social Sciences, or even Sustainability. But we’re flexible - tell us why a career in Procurement & Supply Chain is for you.
- You’ll need to live within commuting distance of our Stepps office.

- Final face-to-face interviews will happen during February. Where you can give us a good grilling too.
- If you accept a place on the programme, you’ll go through some pre-employment screening during the Spring, including a criminal record check.
- All our new Interns will start together at the beginning of June for a 12-week Summer Internship, finishing at the end of August. You’ll learn more about the organisation, meet our leaders, visit some of our operational sites, start making friends, and have a lot of fun.
