A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Bristol City Council's Children Residential Service. Bristol City Councy are currently re-profiling their existing homes, and moving to a model of smaller children's homes for 2 to 3 children; this will allow themto provide a therapeutic care experience for their children, and to facilitate a better matching of placements. Bristol currently have 9 full-time residential child care worker positions available across services.

The service is offered to children up to and including the age of 18 with complex needs. This may include SEMH needs, learning difficulties, and/or risky or challenging behaviour. We want to hear from you if you share Bristol City Councils passion for workingwith children who have not had the easiest start in life. Bristol's aspirations for their children are high in all aspects of their lives, and they aim to provide a homely environment where children feel safe, loved, and nurtured. Bristol use a trauma informedapproach in their work, to enable them to better understand the needs of our children, and to provide individual care packages.

Bristol City Council are looking for new team members who are experienced in working with young people and share Bristol Values of Respect, Collaboration, Curiosity, Ownership and Dedication. They strive for a carer stance using principles from PACE. Newteam members should be positive, reflective, resilient and non-punitive.

Bristol have a strong focus on the development of the team in their children's homes and offer a supportive environment for new members of staff. This includes an expanding training package and induction programme, regular 1:1 supervision and a Level 4 Apprenticeshipfor unqualified staff.

You will have the flexibility to work a varied shift pattern including sleep-in duties, weekend working, and working on Bank Holidays. You will be based in a particular children's home in the City and may be required at times to work across other homes,to meet service needs.

In addition to the basic pay allowances you will be paid for shift work, sleep-in duties, and for working on Bank Holidays.
