Our client are a family owned têxtile manufacturing company who specialise in producing flooring products.
Established in 1954, and now the largest UK manufacturer in their sector, they are a diverse, dynamic and fast paced business with real ambition. Their values remain at the heart of everything they do.
The role of a Junior Buyer is a key role within the team. The holder must be passionate about the products, be capable of challenging, influencing, making high-level decisions, effectively managing relationships, and delivering financial performance.
To spearhead the delivery of the product ambition and performance in line with the product strategy, including all financial targets, optimisation activities and range reviews, you will need to lead buying projects and work with the merchandise team to deliver ranges that maximise sales and profit, minimise end to end costs and execute customer growth opportunities. You will also influence best way to maximise sales by delivering sale display and packages.
Due to the nature of this role, occasionally you will be required to be away from the office, comp shopping, visiting factories and shows worldwide.
You'll be confident with the ability to work with speed, efficiency, flexibility and general professionalism. You'll be computer literate with excellent Excel skills and work well under pressure.
**Responsibilities**:
- Collaborating with our suppliers to negotiate terms and conditions while creating strong relationships to ensure optimum service and quality.
- Ensuring best cost price is always achieved to maximise product margin.
- Preparing sales reports and analysing data to determine bestsellers as well as gaps within ranges such as colourways, designs and sizing.
- Analysing sales data, interpret, and summarise to clearly articulate recommendations that aid key commercial decisions.
- Preparing trend reports and comp shops to keep ahead of market trends and implement new strategies on a seasonal basis.
- Continuously working with and reporting to directors on product development.
- Responsibility of product development plan including RRP analysis, competition/retail analysis, cross costing, cost engineering, intake margin and critical path management.
- Ensuring all technical aspects of product development are completed including specification sheets.
- Manging QC process with suppliers to ensure quality standards are always met.
- Constantly reviewing existing processes to drive positive change and ways of working.
- Organising samples and presenting new ranges to wider teams and directors.
- Working closely with Merchandising team to ensure timelines and schedules are met efficiently.
- Maintaining a productive relationship between Merchandising team and other departments in the business.
- Preparing manuals and instructions for products.
**Essential**:
- A strong knowledge of Buying.
- Ability to think strategically, analyse data and make decisions.
- Commercially aware.
- Ability to lead, influence and inspire.
- Sound knowledge of the retail sector.
- Experience of working with external suppliers.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, confident with Excel - Including the use of V-Lookup and Pivot.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Educated to degree level.
