**Job summary**:
In May 2021, the Prime Minister made a statement in the House of Commons that the Government will establish an independent public inquiry on a statutory basis, with full powers under the Inquiries Act of 2005.
In December 2021 Baroness Heather Hallett DBE was appointed as Chair to the Inquiry and following an initial set up phase we are now looking for exceptional staff to join the Inquiry team.
The Inquiry is seeking a Senior Video Producer to deliver rich-content to both engage the public by explaining the UK Covid-19 Inquiry’s process and mission, as well as support the Inquiry’s approach to commemoration by capturing the immense human impact of the pandemic, right across the four nations of the UK.

The Inquiry sits independent of the Government with the Cabinet office acting as the sponsoring department.

**Job description**:
The role will be working to the Inquiry’s Head of Public Information and Commemoration and will play an important role in end-to-end video production; researching, filming, directing and editing rich-content for the Inquiry.
The role is two-fold. Firstly, developing video content that will help to convey the Inquiry’s terms of reference and demystify some of the legal terminology, so that all sections of society understand and are supported to engage with the Inquiry should they wish to do so.
Secondly, the role will play a vital role in keeping those most impacted by the pandemic at the heart of our work. Through our commemoration work, we will be meeting and hearing from individuals right across the four nations of the UK, to hear their experiences. The postholder will need to be a commanding visual storyteller, to produce a series of video products that will be used across the Inquiry’s proceedings to provide an opportunity to commemorate those that suffered hardship and loss, and contextualise the Inquiry’s purpose.
You will be joining the Inquiry’s Communications and Engagement team at an exciting time, with the first witnesses due to appear at the public hearings in Spring, and where the content you will produce will be placed on a national scale at an historic Inquiry.
**Person specification**:
The post holder will be expected to:
- Support in the storyboarding of commemorative content
- Develop interviewee briefing materials
- Identify and arrange interviews for commemorative content (either directly with individuals or via key external partners)
- Film interviews with individuals, in a way that is trauma-informed (training can be provided)
- Edit filmed content into a suite of video products suitable for the Inquiry’s different channels
- Manage approvals and feedback so the finished article is on brand and acceptable for both the legal team and senior leaders across the Inquiry
- Work closely with the media team to understand and translate key moments in the Inquiry’s proceedings into video content to help meet our communications objectives. This may include talking heads, explainer videos, walk-throughs or pre-recorded Q&As with senior figures at the Inquiry.
- Prioritise learning and development during your time on the Inquiry and use your experience to upskill colleagues in video accessibility and best practice, as well as advising how and when to best use video to meet communications objectives
- Work at pace to ensure video content is in place to support the Inquiry with some challenging delivery milestones
- Work flexibly and responsibly to adapt plans based on performance and the latest audience insight.
- The role will have access to some administrative and logístical support within the team.

- An experienced self-shooter - able to direct, film and edit video content independently
- Highly organised, with the ability to project manage delivery of your work in alignment with other workstreams (both communications and non-communications)
- Resilient with the ability to work at pace and to respond flexibly to changing requirements.
