**Job description**:
We are looking for a hardworking International Relations Coordinator within the MCA’s UK International Liaison team (UKIL). This exciting opportunity will give you great insight into a huge range of maritime issues and the part the MCA plays in creating safer lives, safer ships, and cleaner seas.

You will work closely with the other members of the team by acting as a point of liaison between the International Maritime Organization (IMO) - the UN specialised agency responsible for regulating international shipping - and other Government departments, ensuring effective and clear communication.

As part of this varied role you will undertake important tasks in support of the UK’s work at the IMO in order to achieve business objectives.

This role will be based in the Southampton HQ. MCA supports flexible working and operates a hybrid working model between home and office for this role, giving you greater flexibility over where and when you work. Details of the arrangement will be discussed further with your line manager.

**Your responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Supporting the Head of International Liaison as requested in the routine management of the IMO Host Government functions and acting as the focal point of contact for diplomatic queries and requests, attending meetings when necessary.
- Supporting the team in fulfilling the UK's Landlord responsibilities for the IMO Building. This includes the recovery of the IMO contribution for the cost of Major Repairs in accordance with the IMO Lease, and other tasks as requested.
- Overseeing the administration of the IMO Web/Global Integrated Shipping Information System (GISIS) accounts and facilitating the notification of equivalences and exemptions to IMO Conventions as required.
- Coordinating the IMO Priorities Project by ensuring that a systematic approach is in place to seek information to prioritise IMO outputs.

**About you**

You will have excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing, with the ability to adapt your delivery to suit a wide variety of audiences, maximising both impact and understanding. You will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel.

You are someone who gains rapport quickly with others as you build effective working relationships with both colleagues and a diverse range of both national and international stakeholders. You enjoy working collaboratively with others, and can display good judgement.

You can think on your feet and can translate your thoughts and ideas into coherent speech quickly, you ensure that your ideas are heard. You also come across as confident, persuasive and trustworthy.

**Additional Information**

This role will require some planned and unplanned travel to London, including occasional overnight stays in London.
