Café Supervisor

**Job Description**:
**Overall purpose**:

- To create a safe working environment that encourages and motivates the team to deliver a warm, fun, genuine and memorable experience to our customers.
- Following and adhering to Line Managers Guide
- To ensure that everyone in the cafe operates to Trove’s standards to deliver maximum sales and profit.
- To demonstrate and encourage behaviours that foster Trove’s values and code of conduct.

**Specific Duties and Responsibilities**:

- To take responsibility for the effective operation of the café
- To contribute to building team spirit within the cafe, maintaining a healthy and enjoyable working environment for our Trove team.
- Assist in hiring of new team members including running trials shifts, onboarding, training, and development.
- Providing relevant and up to date information daily through staff handover sheets and end of shift reports.
- Assist in the quality and control as laid down by the company. E.g ensuring all staff are aware of processes and procedures to ensure a unified completion of specified tasks.
- Assist in stock taking and ordering.
- Aware of costing and margins
- Promote and practise relevant health, safety and fire safety standards.
- Assist in ensuring that all relevant legislation is adhered to with regard to food hygiene and safety and the sale of alcohol.
- Assist in ensuring the adherence to effective security procedures, including opening and closing procedures & checking of appliances.
- Assist in ensuring that accurate cleaning procedures are carried out at the end of a shift.
- Responsible for self-development

**Duties**:

- Use weights and measures to adjust the recipe of ‘dialling in’ the coffee.
- Review sales performance regularly for improvements, identifying strategies for retaining and attracting new customers, building sales and profitability.
- Follow all of Troves reporting procedures including EOD reports.
- Assist in resolving staff grievances and performance issues in a professional manner.
- Assist in supporting café admin.
- Assist in estimating cafe needs, requisition of adequate stock supplies, inventories and the keeping of records.
- Assist in ensuring equipment is maintained according to proper health and safety standards.
- Assist in ensuring safety regulations are in place.
- Assist in promotion of sales and upselling.
- Assist in ensuring accurate closing procedures are in place.
- Be expected to cross train and develop in other sites.

**Skills**
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy and consistency, produce shots and steam milk with a high level of flavour and latte art.
- To be able to work under pressure and at high intensity.
- Ability to use café equipment safely and proficiently.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to assist in the coaching and training of staff.

**Staffing and Customer Service**
- Assist in the training of café staff in food and service journey to the consistently high standard required.
- Set a high standard and good example to staff with regard to punctuality, attendance and attitude and ensure these standards are maintained at all times.
- Set a high standard and good example to staff with regard to cleanliness and hygiene to be maintained at all times including a regular cleaning schedule.
- Assist in keeping the storage areas clear, well organised and easy to use.
- Assist in arranging and ensure participation in staff meetings and training as and when required.
- Attend designated Training.
- Carry out any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the post as reasonably requested.
