London, United Kingdom Ipsos UK Full time

**_Are you looking to develop your career by working closely with clients on their most strategic challenges?_**

The Transport & Infrastructure team within Ipsos Public Affairs is a fast-growing team of social researchers and evaluators. We carry out a wide range of qualitative, quantitative, behavioural and evaluation projects. These address some of the most important challenges facing society now and in the future, including:

- How can people travel in greener ways?
- How can people be encouraged back on to public transport after COVID?
- How can behaviour change interventions influence safer travel behaviours?
- What does the future of aviation look like?

Our work has influenced a range of transport policies and informed decision making across government bodies. It has strengthened the evidence base on changes in travel behaviours since the pandemic, and supported clients to engage with the public on major infrastructure projects and key issues facing the transport sector in future.

**The role**
This is an exciting opportunity for a mixed-method researcher to manage high profile studies which influence government policy and decisions.

You will be able to work closely with our associated policy teams, the Energy and Environment team, and Trade, Innovation and Enterprise team, as well as our evaluation, behavioural, statistical analysis and qualitative methods experts in Ipsos Public Affairs.

Our team is a diverse and exciting place to work within Ipsos Public Affairs. We run regular knowledge sharing sessions across projects, have dedicated wellbeing leads within the team and regular social activities.

**What will I be doing?**
The overarching responsibilities, and the key opportunities this role offers, include:

- Managing quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation projects from inception through to final reporting and presentations, or managing strands of larger projects
- Writing smaller - or contributing to aspects of larger or more complex - research and evaluation proposals, to help us win exciting new work and develop your proposal writing skills
- Supporting the development of our team in a range of ways. This might include being supported to run training for the team, or taking on specific business development roles (e.g. building your policy knowledge for specific client accounts)

Specific responsibilities might include:

- Designing high-quality drafts of questionnaires and discussion guides to meet client and study objectives
- Drafting fieldwork materials such as invitation letters, interviewer instructions and recruitment materials
- Moderating in-depth interviews and discussion groups
- Drafting quantitative data specifications and checking data files
- Developing qualitative analysis frameworks
- Effectively managing relationships with suppliers and our internal operations colleagues, to ensure successful qualitative recruitment or survey fieldwork across a range of methods (like online and telephone)
- Designing analysis plans and report outlines, and subsequently leading on narrative-driven reports and presentations that deliver the insights to meet our clients’ objectives
- Building and managing effective client relationships through strong communication with individual client teams and their stakeholders (e.g. policymakers)
- Monitoring projects’ financial progress, identifying problems and suggesting solutions
- Ensuring projects are delivered on budget and to time, through effective project planning (including planning ahead and managing risks) and delegation

**What do I need to bring with me?**
- Solid experience delivering research projects from inception through to completion
- Very good quantitative/qualitative social research skills, and ability to comfortably manage smaller projects and deliver day-to-day
- Time management skills, working across multiple projects, prioritising tasks efficiently and meeting demanding deadlines
- Very good communication, client handling and supplier negotiation skills
- Confident and clear written and verbal communication skills, including experience of preparing written reports and presentations, with a high level of accurate use of English and the ability to write in a variety of styles
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and a focus on solutions
- Experience in writing questionnaires, discussion guides, and fieldwork materials (e.g. recruitment screeners)
- Ability to interrogate quantitative and qualitative data to find insights and narratives

**_Desirable:_**
- An interest in Transport & Infrastructure policy areas
- Experience in contributing to proposals and business development activities
- Experience of contributing to primary research components of wider evaluation studies
- Use of analysis software, such as NVivo, SPSS or other statistics packages
