Finance Officer

**Age UK Thanet is looking for a commercially rounded and operationally involved Finance Officer who is familiar with Xero**

**Salary**: £24,000.00

**Experience**
- Substantial experience in progressively responsible financial leadership roles
- Strong working knowledge of integrated accounting packages (Xero)
- Experience in working in a strategy setting
- Previous team management skills
- Health and social care or charity sector experience is a plus

**Main responsibilities & Duties**:
**Management accounting and reporting**
- Ensure the accurate, timely and efficient reporting of management accounts to management and stakeholders
- Production of KPIs and other management information for board of trustee meetings and to drive business performance
- Manage the balance sheet including control of fixed assets, stock and debtors effectively
- Ensure pension and payroll compliance desirable
- Production of accurate and timely information for all our grants and contracts

**Financial reporting**
- Involvement in end-to-end audit process, coordinating with the Auditors on the preparation of statutory reporting

**Business Partnering**
- Support and challenge senior management and service coordinators in driving growth and increased profitability
- Analysis of monthly performance and idea generation/implementation to deliver operational improvements
- Ad-hoc financial analysis to drive business performance
- Preparation of robust business cases
- Contribute to organisation strategy

**Draft accounts, preparation for audit, liaise with accountants**
- Run xero year end procedures and prepare all reports relating to the accounts
- Liaise with Accountants/book keepers, respond to queries, comment on their draft accounts and ensure that the Annual Accounts are prepared on time
- Submit draft accounts to the Chief Executive Officer and Trustee Board for discussion

**Use of computer equipment & software**
- Install updates and new software as required
- Keep equipment in good repair

**Budgeting & forecasting**
- Responsible for financial planning, budgeting and forecasting
- Support and provide information to fundraising team for bid or grant writing / reports
- Support or manage budgets for contracts and bids

**Other**
- Work in partnership with coordinator to meet all contractual obligations of contracts
- Introduce, implement and develop new IT system and make sure all functionalities are put to best use
- Take responsibility for audit certification like the ISO certification and Age UK National certification
- Manage or support with other high impact organisation wide projects
- Ad hoc day to day delivery of services if need arises
