Work across all Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh (WWL) NHS Trust sites. Deputise in the absence of the Lead Resuscitation Officer. At all times to act in a professional manner as a representative of the WWL NHS Trust. Through the interpretation of National Policy, guidance and recommendations, provide expert specialist knowledge and advice for Policy review.

Represent the Corporate Division at local and regional meetings including the Trust Resuscitation Committee. Collaboratively support in the development and implementation of a structured programme which meets the needs of the service, compliant with National, RCUK and ALSG standards. Support the Lead Resuscitation Officer in the annual review and target compliance of the Training Needs Analysis to reflect National and local requirements, whilst identifying factors that influence the appropriate levels / access to specific Resuscitation training through root cause analysis, audit and regulatory body requirements. Support the Lead Resuscitation Officer in ensuring training capacity is provided to deliver such targets annually.

Support in the development and implementation of the WWL NHS Trust Resuscitation Policy. Support in the revision of the Policy in response to educational, Governance and clinical changes/ development. Participate in and promote strategies which may reduce cardiac arrest. Emphasising the involvement of multidisciplinary team working when managing the deteriorating patient.

Involvement in simulation with Human Factor debrief across the WWL NHS Trust supporting with appropriate improvement plans and areas for change/development, including multidisciplinary members. Participate in the investigation of resuscitation related incidents, through root cause analysis and multidisciplinary reviews. Contribute to the improvement and development of risk reduction strategies and review. Maintain accurate training and risk assessment records electronically, utilising the Trust Training and Learning Hub.

Reporting to the Resuscitation Lead and divisional Directors must be clear and accurate reflecting the Trust Resuscitation Mandatory Training compliance. Participate in and support the National Cardiac Arrest Audit, maintaining the regular review of all 2222 calls and deliver the outcome reports to the Resuscitation Committee and other relevant parties. Attend appropriate local and regional Resuscitation meetings to develop and maintain networks with other Resuscitation Officers. Organise, co-ordinate and deliver all levels of Resuscitation Council UK Accredited courses.

Maintain personal eligibility as an ALS and / or APLS/EPALS instructor. Maintain the Trust cascade trainer programme ensuring that all cascade trainers attend an annual update to provide Governance to the Trust. Complete Resuscitation appropriate audits timely, disseminating results to relevant committees as appropriate. Ensure the maintenance of clinical Resuscitation equipment through standardisation of Resuscitation equipment across the Trust, based on RCUK standards for practice and clinical needs of the Organisation.

Where possible attend and lead/ support/ facilitate the management of the patient in cardiac arrest or deteriorating and requiring immediate intervention. Provide expert knowledge and skill to the cardiac arrest team, patient and family members as appropriate. Support the staff with appropriate and timely debrief as appropriate. Advise and support the Trust DNACPR Policy offering guidance as appropriate.

Work in partnership with the Medical Engineering Department and the Medical Devices Officer in the acute and community Trust to monitor clinical resuscitation equipment, locations and highlight deficiencies. Collaborate at times of equipment failure and clinical incident. Maintain close links with multi-disciplinary teams through professional working; Divisional Leads, Heads of Nursing, Matrons, members of the Resuscitation Committee and Critical Care Outreach Team. Develop and maintain effective relationships with all work colleagues.

Mentor and support junior resuscitation officers ensuring they adhere to UK Resuscitation Council, WWL NHS Foundation Trust and other relevant guidelines and principles. Support and guide the Resuscitation administrator. Maintain Resuscitation Council UK registration ensuring currency relating to the latest guidelines and working practices. Maintain currency in the technological advancement of resuscitation equipment and advise the Resuscitation Committee of future Trust developments following evaluation.

Ensure that Health and Safety legislation such as Infection Prevention, COSHH, Manual Handling and Risk assessment are complied with. Maintain a good level of housekeeping throughout the training facilities and ensure all Resuscitation training equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturers guidance relating to safety and infection prevention.
