We are looking for a Resuscitation Officer to join our motivated, passionate team for the ongoing development of our Resuscitation service within the North west.

We work within an integrated Teaching Organisation that covers the hospital sites of Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh as well as the surrounding community areas.

We have a motivated workforce to whom we deliver Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 training. This is in accordance with RCUK and affiliated HEE Core Skills Training for Health. We are committed to ensuring Governance, RCUK and CQC standards are delivered to support staff and improve patient outcomes for those who access WWL services.

The Resuscitation service is responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive efficient and effective Resuscitation service, to deliver education and training to Acute and Community Trust staff in accordance with NHS Trust, Resuscitation Council UK, (RCUK) & Advanced Life Support Group (ALSG) standards and guidance. Training and education, as outlined in the Trust Training Needs Analysis for Wigan, Wrightington and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, will be aligned with Health Education England (HEE) Core skills Framework for Health.

Through the delivery of Basic, Immediate and Advanced levels of training the service supports the wider Organisation with patient safety and regulatory body requirements to ensure continued service delivery.

The attendance at Trust Resuscitation Committee meetings supports the Trust with professional guidance relating to Resuscitation issues, helping to guide and support Policy development, clinical Governance issues, Resuscitation equipment and root cause analysis as well as audit and relevant presentations.

Guidance and support at cardiac arrests across the three sites, facilitates the opportunity for leadership development amongst cardiac arrest team members, effective team working, and expert advice as required.

On-Call

Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
- Work across all Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh (WWL) NHS Trust sites.
- Deputise in the absence of the Lead Resuscitation Officer.
- At all times to act in a professional manner as a representative of the WWL NHS Trust.
- Through the interpretation of National Policy, guidance and recommendations, provide expert specialist knowledge and advice for Policy review.
- Represent the Corporate Division at local and regional meetings including the Trust Resuscitation Committee.
- Collaboratively support in the development and implementation of a structured programme which meets the needs of the service, compliant with National, RCUK and ALSG standards.
- Support the Lead Resuscitation Officer in the annual review and target compliance of the Training Needs Analysis to reflect National and local requirements, whilst identifying factors that influence the appropriate levels / access to specific Resuscitation training through root cause analysis, audit and regulatory body requirements.
- Support the Lead Resuscitation Officer in ensuring training capacity is provided to deliver such targets annually.
- Support in the development and implementation of the WWL NHS Trust Resuscitation Policy. Support in the revision of the Policy in response to educational, Governance and clinical changes/ development.
- Participate in and promote strategies which may reduce cardiac arrest. Emphasising the involvement of multidisciplinary team working when managing the deteriorating patient.
- Involvement in simulation with Human Factor debrief across the WWL NHS Trust supporting with appropriate improvement plans and areas for change/development, including multidisciplinary members.
- Participate in the investigation of resuscitation related incidents, through root cause analysis and multidisciplinary reviews. Contribute to the improvement and development of risk reduction strategies and review.
- Maintain accurate training and risk assessment records electronically, utilising the Trust Training and Learning Hub. Reporting to the Resuscitation Lead and divisional Directors must be clear and accurate reflecting the Trust Resuscitation Mandatory Training compliance.
