**Lead Moulding Operator**

Signal Plastics is a plastic injection moulding business that makes and assembles parts for automotive, industrial and technical customers. We operate 24 hours a day, 5 days a week with injection moulding presses ranging in size from 40 tonnes to 1,300 tonnes, some with robot demoulding and packing capability.

We are recruiting a Moulding Lead Operator to join our Production Team, which is committed to providing exceptional service to our customers and colleagues.

This is a full-time, permanent role with an immediate start directly employed by us, based at our site on Bentall Business Park in Washington.

You must be over 18 and eligible to live and work in the UK, and be able to provide evidence of this.

**What will you do?**

You will:

- Be an experienced operator of plastic injection moulding machines, consistently working to our quality and production targets
- Understand the importance of following SOPs at all times, accurately completing paperwork and records
- Have the technical and communication skills to train new operators in our procedures and standards
- Be a point of contact from other operators and colleagues with queries
- Work closely with the setters on your shift to ensure targets are achieved
- Contribute to shift handovers with the setters and leading operators on the other shifts
- Have good reading and maths comprehension to understand and interpret training guides, standard operating procedures and quality information and to complete production reports
- Be able to oversee a team, building positive relationships with colleagues and managers
- Have a safety-conscious attitude, keeping the production area safe, tidy and clean at all times
- Be able to manage the physical demands of the role - include standing for long periods, carrying materials, close-up visual inspection of parts and manual dexterity when handling parts or using cutting/assembly tools

**Safety First Environment -** Protect the Safety and Wellbeing of all personnel (Including staff, contractors and visitors) by working in a safe manner at all times, ensure all equipment is correctly isolated and all staff are aware of any plant or machinery that is being worked on.
Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping, behaviour and adherence to procedures and agreed working practices.

**Shift Performance, Attitude & Collaboration -** Contribute to shift handovers with leading operators and supervisors on the other shifts.

**Quality Control -** Understand the importance of following SOPs at all times, accurately completing paperwork and records. Limit samples (1st offs) are to be always present, confirm that staff understand what the escalation process is in the event of a non
- confirming part and that the non-conforming parts procedure is being followed. Ensure that only trained staff operate the various processes in the production area and that exceptions are mongered through the 4M process.

**Production Runs -** Work to planned production runs ensuring works orders are present and completed and all production and quality documentation are present and accurately legibly filled in.

**Training & HR -** Support team members to understand SOPs, demonstrating the required standard, monitoring and developing new skills acquisition. Support the completion of return-to-work documents and meetings. Support the HR department with matters relating to your team.

**Continuous Improvement -** Work with fellow team members to challenge the status quo and suggest areas for improvement to increase efficiency or reduce waste.

**Leading the Team -** Be able to oversee a team, building positive relationships with colleagues and managers whilst leading by example, maintaining discipline and a sense of urgency within the production team and continuing to set a high standard.

**Culture, Respect and Policy -** Work in line with company's values and beliefs, work in a respectful manner with colleagues and stakeholders. Work in line with the company's policies and procedures as set out in the company handbook and various standard operating procedures at all times.

**Communications -** You will have the technical and communication skills as you will be a natural point of contact for other operators and colleagues with queries. You will have the technical and communication skills to train new operators in our procedures and standards.

**Working pattern and pay**

Monday to Friday 3 shift rotation pattern of days (7:00am - 3:10pm), backs (3:00pm
- 11:10pm) and nights (11:00pm - 7:10am) so you must be available to work this shift pattern.
There will occasionally be overtime and we ask for flexibility in being available for this.

Pay is £11.40 per hour for day shift (37.5 hours per week) with shift allowance increases for back shift (7%) and night shift (14%). Overtime is paid at 1.5 x normal rate for the shift.
