We are looking for highly motivated Psychology graduates to join our team as trainee Youth Intensive Psychological Practitioners (YIPPs). This is an exciting new role being piloted by Health Education England and NHS England to support the transformation of children and young people’s inpatient and intensive community mental health services.

You will complete a postgraduate certificate, which will be delivered and accredited by the University of Exeter. The academic training days will be by remote access.

During the one-year postgraduate certificate training, you will develop knowledge and practice skills, working under supervision to develop psychological formulations and interventions in line with the university's expectations.

This is a full-time 12 month training position at Band 4. Your training will be funded by the NHS, and you will be eligible for a full-time position at Band 5 for 12 months after you pass the postgraduate certificate.

**The posts (8 available) will be based across the 3 Trusts**: 4 posts employed by Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust; 2 posts employed by Merseycare NHS Foundation Trust and 2 posts employed by Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, Liverpool. You will do work placement rotations in each of these areas during the training year, which will include working in the Tier 4 Inpatient service in Chester, and Urgent Support/crisis teams (UST).Therefore the post will require travel between these areas for the first year.

**The Trainee Youth Intensive Psychological Practitioner will**:
Attend all elements of the remote learning programme of study and progress successfully through assessments of competence and attainment

Work in and gain experience in a children and young people’s intensive community mental health service (e.g., an intensive home treatment team) and inpatient mental health service

Develop and practice psychologically informed formulations and interventions under supervision, working directly with young people as part of the intensive community home treatment teams and within inpatient care, delivering for example: behavioural activation and graded exposure, problem-solving, recognising and managing emotions

Support collaborative care planning, working alongside other members of the multi-disciplinary team
