Consultant in Rehabilitation

**The appointee will**: Provide out-patient prosthetic and rehabilitation care to patients referred to the Prosthetic Rehabilitation Unit (PRU), alongside the present consultants in rehabilitation medicine. Work with the multidisciplinary team to deliver a comprehensive rehabilitation and reintegration package. The appointee will be an excellent communicator and team player. Demonstrate a keen interest in the field of amputee and prosthetic rehabilitation and ability to manage the unique case mix at a leading tertiary referral centre Demonstrate strong team leadership skills to support and motivate future developments of amputee services both locally and nationally Be responsible for on-going reviews of patients under the unit to provide continuing medical support and promote health and social reintegration.
Develop interdependencies with specialists and departments across the Trust to further enhance service quality through a holistic interdisciplinary approach. Regular liaison must be maintained with General Practitioners, referring surgeons and other professional groups who refer patients to the Rehabilitation services. The post holder will participate in combined clinics with related specialities as required. Take a leading role in teaching & contribute to research projects within the centre and the trust.
Actively participate in the centre & hospital clinical audit. Participate in a range of CPD activities appropriate for a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine practising within a PRU setting. Undertake annual appraisal and 5-yearly revalidation as per GMC requirements. Contribute to the policies and the administrative development of the unit and the hospital as a whole.
Lead service development and research strategy within the PRU and wider rehabilitation medicine. Support and contribute towards development of the private prosthetic and amputee rehabilitation service in line with the RNOH Trust strategy. Work closely with our P&O sub-contractor to ensure clinically/evidence based decisions are made in the best interests of our patients to ensure best value and use of a wide range of products; and actively engage with service developments. Ensure Veteran care is accessible & delivered in accordance to the Veteran covenant and adheres to the most up-to-date best practise and advanced new technology being used.
