**About us**
The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team is looking for Best Interest Assessors to join our friendly and supportive team. Our team is responsible for DoLS assessments for Vale of Glamorgan and Cardiff local authorities and Cardiff & Vale Health Board.

**About the role**
Pay Details: Grade 9 SCP 31-35

Hours of Work: 37

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday

Main Place of Work: Hybrid / Docks Office

As a Best Interest Assessor:

- you’ll use your analytical and communication skills to find out what’s in people’s best interests in sometimes complex and challenging situations
- you’ll promote lawful processes that balance rights, risks and responsibilities to help achieve the best outcomes in relation to people’s choices and human rights
- you’ll work collaboratively with colleagues across different organisations and systems and provide them with guidance and learning about the legislation, processes and practice that support best use of DoLS.

**About you**
We’re looking for experienced BIAs with strong professional values, excellent assessment skills and a sound, working knowledge of the relevant legislation, guidance and processes involved in DoLS work.

You’ll be keen to use your knowledge and skills to build new ways of working and promote best practice in MCA and DoLS. You’ll be able to practice from a strengths-based perspective with people and their families.

You’ll have significant experience of multi-professional, multi-agency working and of enabling peers and others to learn and develop.

You will be a registered Social Worker, or Registered Nurse, or Registered Occupational Therapist or Chartered Psychologist, registered with your relevant professional body.

**Additional information**
Enhanced DBS Adult & Children Workforce is required for this role.

Registration with Social Care Wales or equivalent is also required.
