**Job description**:
This role is within the Area Finance Team that manages finances by forecasting expenditure, managing budgets providing assurances to senior management as well as other key work.

The postholder will sit within a busy team and will be required to undertake a range of financial tasks. These will include performing reconciliations, producing reports and taking responsibility for the accuracy of accounting information.

The postholder will be the Finance Officer on the team and will be required to undertake a range of financial tasks. These will include producing and posting journals, performing reconciliations, producing reports and taking responsibility for the accuracy of accounting information.

The role will involve interacting with staff in the Areas and HQ to coordinate information requirements and provide advice on CPS accounting policy. There will be involvement with the preparation of information and evidence for the auditors (National Audit Office) and liaising with the Treasury, HMRC and other government departments.

**Person specification**:
Provides ways to improve performance by identifying weaknesses in existing systems and controls and presenting alternative effective solutions and with approval of line management, implements improvements.

Monitors the overall integrity of Oracle general ledger and monitoring specific GL accounts, supervising their accurate reconciliation each month.

Provides detailed analysis of the impact of payroll transactions on GL, identifying errors and advising on the corrective action required.

Develops work plans in order to achieve sections targets and deadlines.

Provides advice, guidance and support on financial accounting policy and procedures to internal staff, colleagues within the wider CPS community and external sources using all forms of communication as appropriate to the circumstances.

Creates effective working relationships that positively influence performance within the section, with colleagues, other CPS contacts and external sources.

Understands CPS, Directorate and team aims and objectives and demonstrates commitment to them.
