Senior Clinical Informatician will have a background in medicine and clinical data.

They need to be familiar with EHR data and be able to assist in designing and implementing informatics-based improvement projects as part of the data platform improvement and maintenance work. They require a medical degree in order to appropriately work with our data partners on identifying data sources, map clinical concepts between hospitals and to our common data model as well as to design automated data quality tests and review and approve resulting outputs.

They will work closely with engineering and RWE team as part of the data platform product team. Additionally, they will lead the informatics interactions with the data operations team who interface with data partners.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Leading on work with data partners and our data operations teams to oversee data provenance activities.
- Working with RWE and data operations in the creation and delivery of data specifications for research projects.
- Working with the engineering team on maintaining and improving the data platform.
- Participating in management and improvement of our common data model.
- Participating in managing mapping for laboratory tests, medications etc. between hospitals using recognised ontologies such as BNF.
- Using clinical knowledge to participate in maintaining an automated data quality review process and reviewing and signing off on resulting data quality reports.
- Assisting with clinical informatics activities related to adding new data types and sources, e.g., omic data and new hospitals, to database.

**Key Requirements**:

- Medical and additional degree related to clinical data.
- Familiarity with data structures and sources within the NHS e.g. HES, cancer data sets, SUS.
- Ideally with at least 1-2 years’ experience working clinically in the NHS.
- Experience working on informatics projects or in epidemiological research using Electronic Health Record (EHR) data.
- Familiarity with medical ontologies including those commonly used in the NHS e.g. ICD-10, OPCS-4 etc.
- Ability to code in SQL, ability to code in Python and/or R also desirable but not essential.
- Training in Cerner/Epic is a nice to have.
