Glasshouse and Argent Colleges are exciting and innovative Post-16 Colleges operated by Ruskin Mill Trust which is a leading national charity and independent provider of specialist care and education for young people and adults with learning and complex needs.

Ruskin Mill Trust offers hands-on experiential education and training for young people marginalised by disadvantage, exclusion or special learning needs. Inspired by Rudolf Steiner, William Morris and John Ruskin, the colleges actively promote the industrial heritage of each local area, craftsmanship and entrepreneurship in traditional and contemporary industry and crafts. Within our Birmingham and Black Country settings, these include the core crafts of jewellery and glass making, amongst many other exciting practical sessions.

Our colleges provide an innovative and diverse Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) curriculum, and our students benefit from an extensive range of nutritional, therapeutic and medical support. Each core element of the educational cycle is designed to establish active and positive relationships with nature and the community through a holistic approach to human development. This supports three key stages: overcoming barriers to learning, becoming skilled and being ready to engage and give back to the community.

We are seeking to appoint a highly creative, committed and enthusiastic individual to deliver a structured health, wellbeing and pastoral curriculum, along with targeted support around a range of social, emotional and behavioral issues to young people aged 16-25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
- The planning and delivery of high-quality pastoral programmes to small groups of students focusing on themes such as healthy relationships (including sexual health), British Values, anti-bullying and e-safety.
- Ensuring that delivery is in line with the Personal Development, Behaviour and Attitudes framework within the OFSTED Education Inspection Framework (EIF).
- Raising the self-esteem of and providing advice and mentoring on a range of issues to, students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Supporting the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion agenda within the college through the coordination and delivery of a calendar of half termly whole college student events and assemblies on key pastoral themes in conjunction with the Student Council and Education, Health and Care Management team.
- Working in conjunction with the safeguarding team to deliver specific interventions in line with local priorities and student need.

To undertake this position successfully, you will:

- Have knowledge and experience (desirable) of working in specialist education and have an understanding of the Ruskin Mill Trust method of Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE).
- Have experience of working with learners with complex needs and challenging behavior.
- Have a deep understanding of the designated pastoral remit and its areas of responsibility.
- Have excellent organisation, communication and presentation skills.
- Be a confident presenter with experience of delivering training to both students and staff.
- Have a flexible and professional approach to work.
