**JOB OVERVIEW**

**Senior Clinical fellow in Anaesthetics**:
**An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated doctors to join our talented and hardworking team at Epsom & St Helier. The posts will require right to work in UK and current GMC registration.. The post holder will be required to work on call at either Epsom or St Helier Hospital.**

**Main duties of the job**:
**The Department of Anaesthetics is a friendly and supportive one. We have achieved ACSA Accreditation from the Royal College of Anaesthetists, welcome innovation and will support change where it improves care to our patients.**

**Working for our organisation**:
**Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust provides a range of medical services to approximately 420,000 people living across southwest London and northeast Surrey. In addition, we provide more specialist services for renal and neonatal intensive care to a wider area covering parts of Sussex and Hampshire.**

**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:
**The Epsom & St Helier Anaesthetic department is aligned with the St George's Hospital teaching programme for medical students and the SW Thames School of Anaesthesia training programme. We score highly each year in the national hip fracture database report and are one of the busiest 5 units in London. Our National Emergency Laparotomy Audit (NELA) pathway and patient outcomes score as excellent.**

**Person specification**:
**Qualifications**:
**Essential criteria**:

- MBBS or equivalent
- Registration with GMC

**Desirable criteria**:

- Primary FRCA or equivalent
- Recognised RCoA approved anaesthetic qualification

**Experience**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Minimum 24 months experience in anaesthetics (international experience considered)
- Provider or instructor in ATLS, APLS, ALS or similar

**Desirable criteria**:

- 6 months UK experience in anaesthetics
- UK Core training completed (or equivalent experience) 3 months independent experience in obstetric anaesthesia

**Teaching, research and Clinical Governance**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Understanding of clinical governance and participation in audit
- Current successful appraisal and revalidation
- Presentations at postgraduate meetings

**Desirable criteria**:

- Evidence of research and/or publications
- Ability to teach junior staff
