**Salary: £11.44/hr**

**Hours: 25 hrs per week - Mon-Fri 9:30am-2:30pm**

**Purpose of the Job**:

- Ensure effective operation of the coffee shop, including supervising volunteers, stock management, preparing high quality products and customer care.
- Manage the day
- to
- day running of the coffee shop to meet the requirements of Fusion Maidstone. This includes managing suppliers to get best value for money at all times; providing information for reports on finance and progress as required; suggesting new income generating projects.
- Ensure the operation of the coffee shop helps with existing and future projects and activities of the Healthy Living Centre. This includes managing volunteers to cover the hours required to support activities.
- Provide ideas for the further development of the coffee shop business.

**Main duties and responsibilities**:

- To be professional, polite and well-presented whilst providing and maintaining excellent customer care at all times.
- Act as a key holder to the centre, ensuring the coffee shop is secure at all times.
- Report on a weekly basis, or as otherwise agreed, to the Chief Officer on all relevant issues or any general concerns.
- Line manage all volunteers that work in the coffee shop. This will include preparing and maintaining good levels of staffing at all times (i.e. organising the rotas); holding regular supervisory meetings with all volunteers; organising regular team meetings; ensure that volunteers understand and comply with Fusion policies and procedures. Attend all staff meetings.
- Attend training as appropriate, including Basic Food Hygiene and Health& Safety training and refresher training as appropriate. Ensuring that appropriate training needs are met by Fusion Maidstone. To keep a record of who is trained. This will also include delivering ‘on the job’ for the coffee shop team such as barista training; front of house duties (till and customer service); kitchen duties; cooking; cleaning etc.
- Operate a Point of Sales system. Cash handling, float management and till reconciliation daily, ensuring all till receipts are recorded accurately. Staff training on POS system, till operations, and implementing till and pricing updates. Prompt and accurate cashing up at the end of the day, and transfer of money into safe. To adhere to Fusion’s financial policy and procedures manual.
- Review pricing periodically to ensure the sustainability of the coffee shop, ensuring the daily sales targets are met. Immediately inform the Chief Office of any financial issues that arise whilst working.
- Supervise deliveries, including the checking of delivery notes and verification of delivered goods. Notify Chief Officer of any price rises that are notified with the delivery of goods.
- Explore ideas for expansion of coffee shop operations.
- Ensure effective promotion and advertising of coffee shop services, activities and products, completing all required paperwork. Encourage customer feedback and pro-actively “sell” the services provided and facilitated by Fusion Maidstone. This includes designing and developing initiative which bring in more business for the coffee shop.
- Lead by example on health and safety and assist the Admin Officer with routine weekly Health and Safety checks relating to the building. In relation to food hygiene ensure all food stuffs are correctly stored and labelled; good stock rotation; temperatures; wastage recording etc.
- Maintain a clean and tidy coffee shop/cafe area. Ensure the daily and weekly cleaning schedules are completed to a high standard. This will include clearing of tables, cleaning all cooking utensils; surfaces; floors; walls; sink; storage units; white goods (inside and out) and waste areas before, during and after hours of service to maintain high level of cleanliness.
- To assist with the ordering and storage of food, beverages and cleaning products liaising with the Chief Officer on any additional stock changes or requirements.
- Ensure that coffee shop stock is counted and recorded on a monthly basis as required by the Chief Officer. This will include establishing a regular stock order which will be amended according to demand, ensuring that the coffee shop does not run out of any essential products during service hours.
- Ensure the coffee shop is sufficiently stocked to meet demand, stock awaiting sale is kept at optimum condition and wastage is minimised and recorded. Ensure all items such as sugar, milk and spoons/stirrers are always available.
- Ensure the coffee machine is in good working order and maintained on a regular basis.
