Workshop Carpenter

Event Concept have an opportunity for a Workshop Carpenter to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for bringing our creative designs to life. Creating everything from customised sets and stages, exhibition stands, furniture, pop-up shops and large/small props of every kind.
Event Concept is a leading creative production agency specialising in live, hybrid and virtual event production. Our team comprises industry leading specialists across design, scenic construction, technical production and live show management. **Who are you?**
- You have previous experience working in a scenic or event carpentry role.
- You’re always striving for perfection in your work, this may only be a temporary installation, but we will always deliver to the highest quality.
- You’re calm under pressure; a lot of our installations have tight deadlines.
- You’re willing to work as part of a team delivering the event, whatever the discipline may be.
- You are able to read and understand technical construction drawings.
- Highly developed carpentry and finishing skills.
- Good working knowledge of a full range of current scenic and exhibition construction methods, equipment, and practices. As well as integrations between technology and scenic elements
- You’re a strong communicator, both in person and in written content
- You’re a proactive, self-motivated individual capable of working on your initiative in a constantly changing and pressurised environment and fast-developing company.
- IT knowledge preferably with a working knowledge of AutoCAD / Vectorworks & Sketchup would be advantageous but not a prerequisite.

**Day to day responsibilities**:
- Liaising with our technical designer/drafts person to bring designs to life.
- Be a pivotal part of the construction team and freelance carpenters to fulfil the tasks of the day.
- Supervise on-site construction teams for large projects when needed.
- Coordinate with the Workshop Manager, Scenic Project Managers and Account Managers over upcoming projects when needed.
- Collaborate with the workshop team on best practices, construction techniques, and finishes.
- Quality check projects before dispatch to ensure the highest levels of finish.
- Working with the Workshop Manager on Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and workflow.
- Work with the scenic team to help the company reach its sustainability goals, specifically on reducing waste and reducing the use of single-use plastic from our workflow.
- Keep all work and project-related information confidential and act professionally at all times.
- Identify any areas of our operation where you believe training and additional skills may be required or benefit yourself or the business.
- Provide feedback to the Line Manager on any areas of improvement, development, or growth of the business identified. Take a role within the team in problem-solving and contribute to team & business improvement.
- Be aware of and comply with the company's Health and Safety Policy.
- Ensure that the Company’s policies, rules, procedures, and obligations are observed in carrying out the above duties.

- Keep abreast of any new products and construction techniques that will enhance our services.
