**This is the job** As Principal BI Platform Architect you will be responsible for end-to-end coordination of technology to enable the data strategy, including the physical system selection and configuration such as our Azure data technology estate.

Within in this role, you will define and own the technical solution architecture documents that explains in detail the how, what and when for data across our data estate, including in our data lake/platform and operational data systems.

**What will I be doing?**:

- Responsible for designing BI, Analytics and Engineering technology solutions, that are aligned to enterprise wide and business area road maps
- Leading and mentoring Lead BI Platform Architects
- Working with a wide range of engineering resources as needed, ensuring that end-to-end infrastructure design is completed to a high standard and other AA technical departments
- Preparing, creating, and embedding technical frameworks into the data team including key design decisions, technical debt, design specifications and recommendations
- Responsible for ensuring that the designed solution addresses strategic, and project based (functional/non-functional) requirements
- Agreeing and formalising design proposals to reflect strategic alignment, cost, schedule and technical approaches
- Conducting design reviews and technical meetings and pro-actively analysing current processes and practices with the ability to drive improvements

**What do I need?** Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

- A deep understanding of Azure including data storage, security, networking, monitoring and management services
- A deep understanding of Databricks including engineering methodologies, cost management, scheduling, and data storage
- A proven understanding of Data Sharing capabilities including designing for security considerations
- A proven understanding of architecting cloud solutions to support a data driven business using analytical and visualisation approaches
- Experience of other cloud solutions including AWS and Google, including Google Analytics, and knowledge of IOT
- Proven experience of managing third party software providers to support delivery of technology road maps
- Experience of handling multiple projects and priorities, managing timescales and delivery across a virtual, technical, cross-functional team

Education and Qualifications:

- Degree qualified, likely in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Information Systems, Mathematics or a related field.
- Hold industry credentials, e.g., TOGAF qualified, Microsoft and Databricks certifications

- Leadership abilities: influencing, problem-solving, disciplined approach, pursuing the vision, inspiring by example
- Confident and evangelical about the benefits of using data to drive an organisation.
